if you could nominate 3 artists for the 2005 HOF induction, who would they be?

thinking of this cuz a friend asked if genesis is in yet. they're not & i think they deserve to be given who's left for nomination. sh|t, they've been eligible for 10 YEARS now. completely boggles me given both they're prolific 70s artistic output and their huge 80s pop production.

anyone else?

artists are eligible 25 years after the release year of their first album. u2's eligible this year.

I think the stooges and kiss might already be in there.... Does anyone have a list of which bands have actually been inducted into the Hall so far?

Frank's been considered several times, but isn't in.
I've gone on record at times saying I can't always stomach his uber-cleverness, but that doesn't make him any less deserving.

Oh, that's right, I was in Christian radio that year and working like 60 hours a week. Missed a lot of stuff then. Might've been stoned, too. Who knows?

Perhaps being stoned was a by product of the Christian radio gig.

Okay, then, The Cure.

(also Jethro Tull, Sonic Youth, Television, Tom Waits, ZZ Top, Nick Drake, Peter Gabriel solo and Genesis as a whole)

ZZ Top are already in though, aren't they?

If you mean it was a coping mechanism, yeah, absolutely. Nothing brings out the Holy Spirit like a good southern gospel quartet + big, fat joint.

rnr is about rebellion, going against the grain, anti-institutional and while i know this has all changed to the point of major commercialism i can't help find it all really weird that there's this weird "hall of fame"--it's like an invented holiday by hallmark or another faux dick clark awards show to me.

who cares, i guess, huh?
i'm cranky tonight.

id argue that this "rebellion, going against the grain" etc. has for the most part always been bullshit---its been about the dollars since day one.....

you are right about one thing: "who cares?" its not like im gonna stop buying records or liking rock n roll
