Where is all of this Detroit Lions love coming from? Mark my word, they will NOT make the playoffs.

Couple of other things:
1) someone please put Drew Rosenhaus out of my misery
2) the new (2006) MNF crew was announced as Al Michaels/Joe Theissman. I beg for a combined tib-fib attack on each leg by running, screaming Madden and McGuire. Theissman is a joke. He must have something on someone high up in the ESPN hierarchy.

I think this may be the first time I have agreed with anything you have said...except for the Lions part. Bears are the Bears, Packers are due for a seriously shitty year, and all y'all Randy haters are gonna realize what he really meant to the Vikes when they rock out at 6-10...so that leaves the Lions to pick up the pieces of this shite division.

Haters like me, the only person thus far to have Oakland in the playoffs? ;) We'll see. In another argument pro-Lions that doesn't discredit their division: they've got a lot of young talent, especially in the offensive skill positions. If they stay healthy, Mooch could do some pretty great things.

And then when the rest of you who think the Bears have a shot follow suit, things will fall into place nicely.

Oh, and I agree about the Vikings being a laughable pick to make the playoffs. Culpepper is a stud, but they've got nobody left for him to throw to, and Onterrio Smith is one failed drug test away from becoming the Steve Howe of the NFL.

They're not quite laughable just because the rest of that division is such shit. Whoever wins it will probably get bounced in the first round, definitely by the second.

1. The Vikes will never do anything as long as that fucking meathead Tice is their Coach. Talk about a guy who obviously has pictures of someone in a compromising position...

2. I don't get all the Chargers love, either. They made hay last season playing a weak schedule + a career ( so far, at least ) year from Brees. Marty will find a way to fuck it up this season, trust me. I speak from experience.

so true...Whinestedt was running Ricky into the ground. In crazy Ricky's defense, after running over 2oo yards and 40 rushes in one game and still losing, I'd give the coach a big FU, too. I think that was what precipitated Ricky's thoughts on leaving.

Anyhow, Miami looks like they're on better course with Saban.

Does anyone possibly believe that Ronnie Brown can shoulder the load in Miami . Wasn't he splitting time in college barely getting 20 touches a game. Now he's going to step into the pro-game and be a feature back?
I'd imagine Ricky will get the touches this season.

the NFC central is mediocre as fuck. I think whatever team has a winning record will win the division. However, I think the last place team will be 7-9.

Yail is incorrect about the Vikes.

They don't have three front-line running backs. Bennett is injury prone and only had one good season and has never rushed for more than 5 TD's in a single season. Moore has 65 carries under his belt and hasn't scored a TD in the NFL. Fason hasn't even carried the ball and if your thinking Moe is a front-line running back you are sadly mistaken.

Burleson will now get the #1 corner on every team. Williamson is a rookie WR and 99% of rookie receivers are mediocre at best for the first few years (the exception being Randy Moss).

They've upgraded their D and taken a huge hit on O. I say they'll be the wildcard.

Packers win the division.

Detroit will be improved if Garcia is QB...i guess
Bears.......tough to say. It all hinges on Grossman....he could be quite good.

And look who posted it. It's really not surprisingly out-there when you take it in that light.

For me, this is as not-off-the-wall as can be.

Go Bengals! Unchi, tice, fee* times a charm...

* Lost their first two Super Bowls, against 49ers ('82 & '89), correct?

Former UM star shot in Miami robbery attempt

Three masked men shot former star University of Miami football player Jerome McDougle late last night during a robbery attempt in South Miami-Dade County, police said on Friday.

McDougle, a former defensive end for the Hurricanes and at Ely High School in Pompano Beach, now plays for the Philadelphia Eagles. He was listed in good condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center, where he was airlifted with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to Miami-Dade police.

When McDougle, 26, pulled into the driveway of a home at Southwest 122nd Court and 203rd Terrace around 11:30 p.m. Thursday three masked men, described as teenagers between the ages of 15 and 17, confronted him with weapons drawn.

The teens demanded valuables and shot him in the abdomen when he exited the vehicle to remove his wallet, Miami-Dade police said. The gunmen fled on foot after firing two more times. Those bullets missed McDougle and hit the door of his silver Mercedes-Benz coupe.

McDougle, who splits his residences between Philadelphia and Miami, was flown to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center. He underwent surgery there later in the morning.

He originally was listed in critical condition. However, Derek Boyko, the Eagles' director of media operations, said McDougle had spoken to team officials and was walking around his hospital room.

``Our understanding is that Jerome is in good condition after undergoing surgery,'' the team said in a statement.

McDougle was due to be in the team's camp Monday, the reporting date for Eagles' veterans. Rookies reported Friday.

After three seasons at UM, where he tallied 114 tackles and 31 sacks, the Eagles selected McDougle with the 15th selection of the 2003 draft, signing him to a six-year $12.6 million contract that included a $6.1 million signing bonus.

Following an injury-plagued rookie season, McDougle played in 11 regular-season games and two playoff games during the 2004-2005 NFL season. He was projected as the first-teamer on the depth chart at right defensive end when the Eagles opened training camp on Monday, but now it appears he might miss most, if not all, of this season.

"At this time, we are still in the process of gathering the facts of his situation," the Eagles said in a statement. "As soon as more information becomes available, we will keep the media and fans informed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jerome and his family."

In Albany, N.Y., where the New York Giants reported for training camp Friday, McDougle's former Miami teammate, Jeremy Shockey, said he believed his friend had been poised for a breakout season in 2005.

``He's definitely worked hard this offseason,'' Shockey, the Giants' tight end, said. ``He's preparing to have a big year and something like this happens. All you can do is pray for him, hope the best comes out.''

In a statement, Miami coach Larry Coker said the school's ``football family was shocked to hear'' of the shooting. ``He and his family are in our thoughts and prayers,'' Coker said.

McDougle's brother, Stockar, was signed by the Miami Dolphins in the offseason.

Anyone with information on the attempted robbery or the gunmen should call 305-471-TIPS. There is a $1,000 reward for any tip that leads to an arrest.

Well, exempting the new McDougle being shot info, I just wanted to say that all you people picking the Colts over the Eagles in the Superbowl are fools. Give me a Jim Johnson defense against a pass-happy offense with an immobile quarterback any day of the week. Even if it is Manning.
