what's the difference between everybody moving there or everybody staying here? what would the difference be except for a week or two of shooting street teamers in a barrel? would more new people sign up there because they know cmj? i'm not being difficult, i just really want to know the benefits of hauling butt back there. this place is pretty cool.

yup, still alive, still breathing and he's been upped in the workplace, so he's staying pretty busy.

Probably not, because there has been zero influx of any new people at the old board since October. If there was such a demand for a CMJ board, then new bodies would have take our place in the past 9 months.

Plus, despite the efforts of the weekly, thanks to the NMM distro problems, not paying writers and a board full of spammers, CMJ's brand is shit.

Plus, given time and a few creative ideas, this Obner-type thang will grow as time moves forward.

i'd rather stay & spare myself of street teamers. plus the cmj bb wasn't that dependable... but if it's too much work for haq, i'd understand.

First of all I'd like to thank Aaron for doing a great job here at Obner. This place beats CMJ by a mile and I'm a grateful for all of the recent additions and updates that have continuously been going on. This place is golden, now why would we want to trade it in for something less desireable.


I say no to unreliable CMJ, it's lack of features and abundant trolls. Let's take a vote just to see where the community stands.

again, you'll get regulars if there were regulars. the influx of registrants would be generated from people seeing something they actually wanna join. that comes with making a community. sure, there'll still be people who will street team or appear for 3-4 messages before they disappear, but really that's kind of fun.

you opinion about their brand, but they have loyal cmj new music report subscribers. the monthly is one thing, but you don't have to be a subsciber to feel part of the image or the demographic.

i don't doubt obner can grow. and i know there's been a little trickle of newcomers. but it'd be nice to open the community even more, lots of registrants, lots of new blood. cmj already has the established name, a place where many of us were already hanging out.

and, of course i think obner's a fine board. just getting my opinion out there.

I think we should settle our destination via a steel-cage match between katie, a princess and swiateck, CMJ Monthly (?) vets with vastly different stories to tell.

If Katie wins, we go back to CMJ.com/bb.

If Swiateck wins, we stay Obner.

i lurked over there for about 25 minutes.

I think we need to steer this thread in the direction of how we can eventually make Obner a Top 50 Brand worldwide.
