because my power was out for 24 hours and there was less than nothing to do in the searing death furnace that was my house, my roommates and i went to go see two movies, which i will outline below:

The Island: product placement extravaganza featuring boring Michael Bay inanity

Bad News Bears: it was okay.

thank you.

I saw Wedding Crashers on Wednesday, and I thought it was hilarious.

agreed...

i saw Charlie / Choc Factory today... I'm mixed on it.. Depp was great.. Everything else seemed a bit pointless.

Now, the question remains -

homophobia/gay-baiting in Wedding Crashers, bad; the same in Happy Endings, funny?

Personally, it's all funny.

it was 'eh'.

house of 1000 corpses was way better.

it wasn't bad at all. i'm just not quite sure what i thought of it, yet.
kinda reminded me of natural born killers quite a bit.

I've seen quite a few....

Wedding Crashers

One of the best I have seen this summer. I was rolling.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

I'm partial to the original. Wasn't a disaster. I liked the kids more in this one but felt Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka is superior to Depp's.

The Island

Not horrid, but I have to say Scarlett made it watchable. The only movie that I have seen her in that couldn't be saved by her presence was The Perfect Score.

Mysterious Skin

Beautiful soundtrack. Brutal movie. Some of the scenes made my stomach churn. I don't remember being this disturbed since Requiem For a Dream.

Prozac Nation

I rented it and paid half assed attention. Some intense dramatic moments. And it's always nice to see Christina Ricci naked. But it could have been better since it was based on a true story.

Hustle and Flow

I was pleasantly surprised. Quality performances by everybody, even Ludacris.

Yep!

My only complaint is that it's a little long for the type of comedy it's trying to do, but that's what happens when you actually take time to develop characters and a plot.

Ditto.

We just saw this tonight. I haven't been in the audience of a comedy in so long where the whole theatre was cracking up the whole time. Funny as hell.

Loved Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams. Vince Vaughn bugged me in some parts and in others had me hysterically laughing. Jane Seymour, holy crap Dr Quinn Naked Woman. lol

The football and dinner table scenes in the Wedding Crashers alone were worth my 8 bucks.

Saw the Batman flick, it was surprisingly good. I'm looking forward to the sequel--the way they set up The Joker character is enticing.
