Ah, the death-knell of greatness. I cant think of the last album that has been truly great where all the instruments were played by one artist.

I'll start.

Todd Rundgren - Something/Anything (first 3 sides)

Not one of the superior recorded one-man outings, but...

Foo Fighters - Foo Fighters

... With the exception of a Greg Dulli guitar solo on "Alone + Easy Target" (?). I think that's the song in question.

lonesome organist hasn't really had a good record, but he plays all the instruments live. and it's unreal. that's got to count for something.

Didn't Prince play all the instruments on one of his albums? Or was it a single?

I think the first 2 are pretty much all-Prince, and I'm sure there are one man band tracks on most of his albums.

Howard Jones, back in the day, would set up all his keyboards, MIDI-synced to each other, and then walk away while they were still playing. Live, dude.

I've posted this before, but this guy is a one-man band:

And I think he's pretty damn good.

I have been sadly remiss in not mentioning my pal R. Stevie Moore, who's only put out 300 or so one-man-band albums.

Bill Nelson and Adrian Belew have both done several albums where they played every note.

Whether you think they suck or not is irrelevant.
