here's my updated top 10 of 2005, considering all albums purchased/dl'd thru june.

01 "picaresque" the decemberists
02 "cold roses" ryan adams & the cardinals
03 "i'm wide awake, it's morning" bright eyes
04 "illinois" sufjan stevens
05 "nashville" josh rouse
06 "digital ash in a digital urn" bright eyes
07 "silent alarm" bloc party
08 "france the mute" the mars volta
09 "gimme fiction" spoon
10 "the mysterious production of eggs" andrew bird

not much changed in a month. top 10 are still comprised of the same albums. numbers 4,5,6 have swapped. #10 broke its tie with "black sheep boy" by okkervil river. #s 8 & 9 probably could easily swap.

albums i've heard that could possibly break into the top 10 fairly soon: "i am a bird now" antony & the johnsons, "twin cinema" the new pornographers.

We have about as different music tastes as two people could have, apparently. A good portion (if not all) of those would appear on my bottom of 2005 list, if I had one.

There are some great albums, I just don't like most of the albums in other people's top 10s.

Well I mean, in 2004 I had so many albums I loved that it absolutely killed me to cut some out for my top 20 list. This year, most everything that's making anyone's top 10 lists is the most boring indie-rock shit I've ever heard in my life. The Pitchfork masses have reached an all time low.
