As usual, Simmons misses the mark. This movie actually got funnier as it went on. Maybe not quite the momentum as the first hour, but that shit was AWESOME.

I watched Romancing the Stone this morning. 5 Stars.

Rolled some On Demand this weekend. Saw Big Fish yesterday, and just finished Eternal Sunshine On My Spotless Shoulders Makes Me Happy (or whatever the hell it's called) this afternoon. Both were qual, though Billy Crudup and Mark Ruffalo are in a dead heat for the title of "legitimate" (READ: non-Keanu) actor with the most limited range, held for the past two decades by William Hurt. What a couple of stiffs those two are!

Speaking of Simmons, I just read his column earlier this afternoon comparing the original 1976 Bad News Bears to the following year's sequel, The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training, and I laughed out loud at full volume no fewer than four times...when that fucker is on, he's as hilarious as it gets!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory = Great. I like better than the original.

Wedding Crashers = AWESOME! Funniest movie of the year, bar none.

Must Like Dogs = Chick flick but I didn't hate it. I'm ghey.

Dig! = Wow. Everyone in that movie are a bunch of sniveling bitches. GET OVER YOURSELF. That being said, loved it.

Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore = Really good. Had no idea that the show Alice was based on this. "Kiss my grits!"

I have to agree. I really thought Wedding Crashers was pretty funny throughout. Funniest thing I've seen since Old School.

Has anyone else seen 'Me and You and Everyone We Know' yet? I saw that over the weekend and it's pretty strange. A good movie though. All I have to say is "))<>((" is one of the strangest things I've ever heard discussed in a movie.

Watched "Sideways" this wknd. Better than I expected. (I expected the worst). A little sappy at points, but there were some really funny moments.

Other than him pouring the wine spittoon and the whole Lowell bucky naked/nasty monger dick dangle, care to point ONE out?

Andy -- I think we should run a poll as to which is funnier, this or Old School...
But definitely my thoughts..easily the funniest since that.

Dude, I don't understand your hatred for this movie. I'm not saying the dude deserved an Oscar or anything, but I thought it was really good, and funny. For me there are too many funny parts besides the ones that you mentioned to point out.

I'm not sure which I liked better. I'll have to see Old School again since it's been a while but I think I'd lean in that direction. Vince Vaughn never disappoints.

1. When he grabs the wine bottle and starts running with it through the vineyard while trying to drink it. (just reminded me of something I might do)

2. The scene at the golf course when Giamatti just turns around and shoots the ball right back at the dudes on the tee box (followed by Lowell screaming like a banshee) Quick aside here: While playing at the par 3 last Sunday, I witnessed Robert Burgess pull out his DRIVER and say, "Hey Chris, think I put this fuckin ball throught the fuckin window of that house over there (about 150 yards away) and then SMASH the fucker right into the house, missing the window.

3. Lowell's massive beating by Sandra Smelly.

4. Oh, and Lowell in general's dialogue: "C'mon man, lets party." "Dude, these chicks wanna party" etc...

Oh, and this post is completely pointless anyway since it is a long established fact that beyond Goodfellas, YOU HAVE NO FUCKING TASTE IN MOVIES!!!!!

I'm with the Senator on Sideways -- easily the most severely over-rated film from last year. I know people like Lowell, hence, he wasn't a caricature.

I didn't like Sideways because of the humor (though it did have funny parts). I thought it did a really good job of capturing what a lot of people are really like. Some of the struggles of the main character were easy to relate to for me and I'm sure a lot of other people. I just think they did a good job writing characters. I did think it was a little overrated but still liked it.

And seriously, just because you swallow tripe, doesn't mean I have to.

I didn't think these characters were caricatures, I thought they were a lot like people I know, doing mildly amusing things, and being losers. Oh, and since it was about WINE COUNTRY, it is automatically conferred a place in the canon.

I am not saying it is BAD per se, I am saying that I was dissapointed in it...which makes it worse than bad.
