The Senator's post-count deficit against the venerable Mainer has shrunk to single digits. He's eight from the 'Spoon, nine from passing him (and getting to 4100 (a good year on the Hebrew calendar)).

Go, Diamond D, Go.

This is just a set-up for Shiv, eh?

By the by, I havn't seen him around here, either.

Somehow, I'm picturing the sequence from In the Bedroom where the grizzled father takes the killer "for a drive".... Frosting, don't do it. Murder is not the answer. Marshmallow fluff is.

I heard from him this morning. He's fine. He's gone. He's just busy with life and well, didn't like some of the crap that was being spewed at him.

Which is understandable.

I think I'll be leaving soon to pursue my dream of being a goat herder.

Once I pitched tent on a drunken farmers land and I fed his goat rolled up newspapers so it's not like I don't have any experience of goats. I should imagine any goat herd would be proud to have me as their master, whistling at them to go to market.

No. Cake. From '96.

Their second album slump (Fashion Nugget) following their major label debut/fluke breakthrough single ("Rock n' Roll Lifestyle").

At this point, they probably are still big in Japan and/or John McCrea has reached troubadour status (not at the level of Tom Waits, of course, but, prolly, comparable to M. Doughty).

i always considered that to be their breakthrough song. it was certainly the first i'd heard of them.

For me, it was "Rock n' Roll Lifestyle", 'cause I remember it getting play not just on the new rock alternative station, at the time of its release, but also on WKTI ("MKE's Home of the Best of the 70s, 80s, and Today" - the slogan at the time, '94). And, 'KTI is pretty much your mom's station, playing popular but safe AAA and AC songs (Billy Joel, Bodeans (gotta support the local scene... hah!), Natalie Merchant, Lisa Loeb (hawt!)).
