are we really afraid of having that word on here? considering how frequently the word "fucking" is dropped over here? I don't really care too much about thisone way or another, but o think these intentional misspellings are ridiculous.

It's not so much that we drop "porn" now and again - if that kind of thing bothered me i could configure the board to replace the word (e.g. with something like "cockporn"). it's more having threads listing porn sites that makes me uneasy. you know, like, keep it on usenet.

Fuzzy lines like "Porn" vs "here's my favorite porn sites" must be occasionally highlighted.

Ehhhh, partially-correct. Once the wierdo stalker guy opened the complaint, then my company's HR department "checked out" obner for a week, and then, yes, they did indeed see the NSFW section and bring it to my attention during the Inquisition. They also sat down my wife in a room the following day to tell her that I was viewing pornographic material at work, referring to that same section, and "how much do you really know about your husband?" But in the interest of fairness, it did take someone to start the process. I guess the bottom line in this case is that if your HR department views obner with you in mind, you will be judged by ALL of what's on it, not just what you've participated in, which is neither cool nor fair, but is perhaps understandable. But really, with that section gone, there's not much here you couldn't stand behind.

Dude, that's harsh. Trying to wreck the home and get you fired? That's some seriously effed up stuff right there.

We worked for the same company, and at the time she was interning in my department, like a row away from me, randomly enough. The day after it went down, she's sitting there crying all day trying not to be noticed, and is called HR to "discuss the situation." This was part of that gag order they had... "talk about it and be fired," to the whole department.

Neat thing, though - the guy who was pretty much my supervisor just quit a week or two ago, and I got to have drinks with him this weekend (just before the boat ride). He's a good guy, and had 0 input on what happened. I helped him decide to look for employment elsewhere. He bought me a beer for it.

Good Gawd, man...firing you is one thing. But that whole "how much do you know about your husband" shit? Man, I think I would've talked to a lawyer on that one.

I did. When I finally got ahold of one (most already knew the following, wouldn't return calls), he explained that in an "at-will" work state like WI, your employer has the right to can you anytime for any reason, just as you have the right to quit the same way. It's based on the notion that you and your employer are equals, but what it really means is that they have the right to take away 100% of your living, just as you have the right to quit and take away 1/3,000th of theirs. Make sense?

edit: Unless you've been discriminated against. Then you have a magic, golden card to play, and they know it, making it muuuuch harder to fire you. But if you're a white male with all 4 limbs, see ya later. So don't piss off random people online. Seriously.

Once again, you should probably think about doing work at the office instead of reading Obner.

I don't tell you what to do, do I?

Don't you have to be working now too? :P

I'm hep to the whole "at-will" concept...but man, what they did to yer wife sounds like borderline harrassment to me. Just the tone of the conversation, from what you posted. Creepy.
