McGwire's only shining light is that he is retired and can never be tested...

but seeing him at the hearings, he showed his guilt better then any piss test could ever.

I agree, but like you said, we'll never know "for sure".

And the fact that he's retired now before MLB finally got a set of stones & started testing people was the luck-stroke of the decade.

This jumped out at me.

Quote:
White House spokesman Scott McClellan said President Bush -- who owned the Texas Rangers while Palmeiro played for the team -- considers Palmeiro "a friend and he believes him" when he says he never intentionally took steroids.

i feel like its going to come out that there's something in that Viagra that's on the banned substances list but we'll remember raffy as a junkie anyway.

I support this plan.

I always gave Raffy the benefit of the doubt because of the stash. For some reasons moustaches and steroids don't mix.

Really? I mean isn't he just a Z-Grade Keith hernandez all hopped up on power juice?

Best quote about Raffy: "A guy guaranteed to get hot the day your team is ten games out of contention."

fuck him in the ear.

No, but I really need to because those were my boys. I always liked Keith, but he's another guy who talked out of his ass. When the Cardinals traded him to the Mets Herzog suggested it had to do with his suspicion that Hernandez was doing drugs. Hernandez threatened a libel suit and, naturally, it came out later that the white rat's suspicions were true.

Still, awesome defense, clutch hitter and a great team leader. If he had hit for more power he'd be a HOF candidate.

Steve

When I go to O's games, I sit in the first row on the first base side, right behind the coach's box. At Camden Yards, that's pretty fucking close. Raffy is always friendly, not too much razzle dazzle, and I'm not sure I've seen someone have the ball leap off the bat from such a seemingly effortless swing.

He was always nice to the kids, tossing (or even walking) balls over after a third out. Once he even pointed out and tossed one over to my mother.

My bigger problem is still with the dancing and hiding behind a worthless apology. If he just came out and said, "I'm 40 fucking years old and the gears needed a little grease, I wasn't trying to be as wide as a Volvo like fucking Sammy over there," I would probably be more forgiving.

Plus, look at some of the other asshole pro athletes the O's have carried around: Alomar. Belle. Sosa. Benitez. Ponson. Anderson (though I've heard good things from people who've met him).

Tejada and Roberts are good shit, though. I like the guys that look like they are having fun and enjoy the game.

This is what I was thinking.

Bottom line is the guy's Congressional hearing testimony placed him above reproach. Now he's done, at least under these circumstances. It's like the televangelist who gets caught in the sack with the hooker. A crying confession in front of the congregation is one thing, but it won't be forgotten. I've always liked the guy, personally, and I'm saddened by the news.

Really? I've never had complaints with Surhoff and have seen him stop and sign some crap before games several times. He's usually just quiet and goes about his bidness. Brian Roberts is a lot the same way, but I also realize that these guys get hounded all the damn time for dumb shit.

I took this picture of BJ while hanging over the wall in my seat.
