Now I'm gonna be walking around like a zombie the rest of the day saying "WREK, Atlanta".

i was at WPLT from 94-98, the last year actually we had to change to WQKE for some reason i don't remember.

no one there is me but the guy in the bottom right looks kinda like the idiot fomr that 70's show.

some things that haven't changed is the 3 to 1 guy-girl ratio, and the very tall guy with glasses that likes progressive rock, also there's at least 2 guys there that can play guitar.

As well you should. I always thought our station was much more adventurous and exciting than WRAS. My voice wasn't on the little montage, but I had my fair shares of "You're tuned in 91.1 FM, WREK... Atlanta." I can still remember the damn phone number that we used for call-in contests (894-2468).

My college radio station looked alot like Norwood's in the early 90's, except for the fact that we had a huge vinyl library in the back of the studio and you can see people walking to class in the hall window. My station was KAOR 91.1 FM in Vermillion, SD "The Core". I never worked for KRNU here in Lincoln at the University of Nebraska, which put the University of South Dakota's station to shame. I only wish I had the catalog they do to play at USD when I had a CMJ type format show. I had to provide most of my own music.

I don't know - apart from the prim librarian in the lower left and the knob in the ski sweater in the lower right, are the rest of them all that far removed from the geek chic 19 - 20 year olds in '05?

I most certainly do remember Michelle taking pictures during our "performance", but never saw any prints of that.

cybin relives his happy-go-lucky college radio days:

Our station turned 35 this past April, so we had a big-ass party this summer. Dig that vinyl! From my personal collection.....weeeeee ;)

And here's a staff pic from the late '70s (I wasn't there yet):

NFW! I used to listen to MNJ all through high school (lived in Chatham). What years were you on? Were you at the REM show in '85 or so? Small world.

Front Row, Left to Right : Donna, Hyde, & Kelso.

And in the Back Row, the guy 3rd from the Left could be Eric Foreman if he developed an eating disorder.

The stacks were located in a room behind the board. I miss playing records.

Norwood,
I don't think we had that many records, but it was set up alot like that.
I liked playing records too, it was the best way to play the old R.E.M and Factory Record albums.

Holy shit, there were listeners?!?

I'm not old enough for the REM gig--'94 to '97ish. Tuesday mornings, most of it.
