You went to Bishop Amat?! I never knew that. I went to Bishop Montegomery for a bit (before I got kicked out haha)... we hated your football team. You guys were good.

Yup, they happen to be one of those private schools where kids who excel in sports go to. Though, it's good to know that it's a college prep school, so at least they get an education while they're at it.

Dri, was there a Fr Liam Kidney when you were there? He used to be a teacher when I was in HS -- I hated him and learned that he went to BM and became a principal or something.

Frances Conroy (the mom in Six Feet Under) is married to my cousin, who used to be roomates with Danny Elfman and traveled with Oingo Boingo as a mime.
Now he plays bit parts in movies and usually has just one line.
In "A Few Good Men" he is the forman of the jury who delivers the verdict, and "Catch me if you Can" he plays a pilot opposite Leo.

Rob Thomas (not the Matchbox 20 guy, but the dude who created such TV semi-hits as Veronica Mars and Cupid):
I went to high school with him and also played basketball with him. He graduated the year before me.

Linda Stouffer (as seen behind the CNN Headline News anchor desk):
Her dad worked with my dad. Her real name was Cinnamon, but her parents were actually full-blown WASPs, not hippies. She graduated a few years (3, I think) after me. Her and Rob Thomas dated after he graduated and was in a series of struggling local bands.

Gene Krupa (legendary big band drummer and one of the original H junkies):
He was my great-grandfather's cousin, or something along those lines, on my mom's side of the family. It was on her dad's side, because they are all hardcore oily-variety Bohunks.

Cowboy Troy (country-western rapper, who is not only the protege of gay country-western superstars Big & Rich, but also the person who unknowingly triggered The Great Obner Flame War of 2005 between Haq and The LooGAR Posse):
An acquaintance of mine from the late '90s, when we used to run in the same circles here in Big D.

I'm friends with a daughter of one of the Jacksons...

My sister and her husband are friends with the sister of one of those guys that was in Oasis (but not anymore). Supposedly she used to walk to school with the lot of them. I've stayed at her house in Manchester as well, so I know her too.

oh, i'm connected...connected to criminals.

my mom and teddy-the unibomber are second cousins.

my sister's bestfriend in grade school (who i used to babysity for) was the first blonde dipshit to marry lyle menendez while he was in jail.

there's lots more criminals. i have a cousin who was into "something." his parents and our grandmother were visiting him in california so he sent a huge limo out to the airport to get them and by the time they got back to the house he was gone. just gone and hasn't been heard from for over two years. he had a wife and 3 kids too.

and the usual handful of drug dealers here and child molesters there...

oh and my dad was always coming home with stuff: suits, coats, shoes, tv's. he always said he got a deal on it. he's italian and ran a construction company.

Karen: What do you do?
Henry: I'm in construction
Karen: You're hands don't feel like you're in construction
Henry: Well, I'm a Union Rep.

I went to college with the star of Frankenhooker.

On the wall behind me are pictures of my father with Marilyn Monroe, Alex Haley and Bill Bixby. Bixby had an enormous head.

My sister's bf is pals w/ joey santiago and has partied with the fall.
And, same sister has worked out our degrees of separation with kurt vonnegut--our great-grandmother used to work with his racist aunt, or something like that.
SO interviewed Bill Janowitz and Bob Mould a while back.

This is all pretty tenuous.

My grandfather was the Queen Mother's personal pilot when she visited here in the 50s or something. My family still has the Chritmas presents she sent him.

Erroll Flynn is a distant relative.

Between 1978 and 1981 my two best friends Ron and Eric (Slim and Dim) worked at S.I.R. in San Francisco. S.I.R. rented equipment to touring bands and provided rehearsal space for same. On any given Friday and Saturday night during those years I would drive into the city and hang out at the studio waiting for the boys to get off work. During this time the Jim Carroll band was emerging on the scene in the Bay Area and we beacame part of the entourage. We jammed, drank wine, smoked dope and caroused with the band for many months. Jim was an amazing guy to hang with.

During that same era I jammed at the studio with Carlos Santana, sat in on a recording session with Ronnie Montrose, partied with Huey Lewis, Greg Kihn and others.

We had a particular fondness for an all girl punk band called The Contractions and followed them around Northern California as they tried to make a name for themselves. The band often ended up at our apartment late at night after playing a local gig.

I spent lots of time backstage helping Slim and Dim load and unload equipment. I didn't get paid, but I loved being there. I played pool with Mick Ronson , chatted with Bob Geldof, then with the Boomtown Rats and had a long chat over a beers with Bono and The Edge.

Those were great years. I have no pictures, only memories. Probably the finest moment during that time was standing with my arm around Tina Turner while she sang Happy Birthday to Dim.

There are others, I'll keep thinking.

My girlfriend's sister is a friend of Stefan Lessard (bassist for Dave Matthew's band). She gets vip seats for DMB shows all the time. I have yet to find away to exploit this for my own personal gain.

I went to middle school with Kyle Petty's (son of Richard Petty) sons. He would show up for JV basketball games when his son was on the team. He once thought my brothers and I were triplets.

David Toms - My old roomate is really good friends with him. Talked to him on several occasions. Very nice and cool.

Britttany Spears - Her first cousin was LSU at the same time as me. My friends girlfriend is really good friends with her. Briattany would come and stay with her.

I'm also pretty good friends with Ms. Louisiana who was runner up for Ms. America last year, but I don't think that counts for much.
