Devil's Rain

I would like to add Halloween/Halloween 2 to my list. Kind of bizarre that the second one picks up right where the first one leaves off, and yet the first one feels complete by itself.

i'm not sure i'm into traditional horror movies--i guess i would consider them psychological thrillers:

Psycho
The Shining
Straw Dogs
Duel
Blair Witch

guess i'm not too original.

The psycho-horror (small P) is about it for me, and the best one of those I ever saw, hands down was 1961's The Innocents, film adaptation of Henry James' novel The Turn Of The Screw. Superb ghost story with Deborah Kerr and Michael Redgrave, but the two children steal the movie.

I agree with this 100%. This film really uses its medium (cinema, I mean) to create suspense. And that kind of shit is much scarier than blood and guts slasher stuff.

Comes out on DVD on 9/6 and it's cheap. You should buy it.

A fashion model moves into a house inhabited (on the top floor) by a blind priest. She begins having strange physical problems, has trouble sleeping at night, and has some nasty flashbacks of her attempted suicide. She complains to the real estate agent of the noise caused by her strange neighbors, but finds out that the house is only occupied by the priest and herself, and ultimately discovers that she has been put in the house for a reason.

This flick had a pretty good cast : Chris Sarandon , Cristina Raines , John Carradine , Burgess Meredith , Christopher Walken & has a scene where Beverly D'Angelo masturbates in front of the leading lady.

Basket Case!

That was a staple of th USA Network's Saturday Nightmares. As was a movie about these kids that were possessed and would fry anyone they put their hands on. The only way to kill them....you have to cut their hands off man!

I've never seen this but I remember the poster really scaring me every time I went into an early eighties video shop.

Not truly a horror flick but still loved by many horror fans. Either way it's still a pretty bad ass , violent , and ORIGINAL film.

BTW , sorry bout that triple post . My comp went haywire on me.

The only horror movies I have are:

The Exoricst
Serpent and the Rainbow
28 Days Later

Unless you count the following, which I think fall into the category of disturbing more so than horror:

Saw
Carrie
Donnie Darko
Seven
Devil's Advocate
Kalifornia

Does Shawn of the Dead count?

Saw , Carrie & Devil's Advocate fall under the Horror category
Seven is borderline thiller/horror. Still loved by the Horror fans.
Donnie Darko is more of a psychological / mind fuck . Great Friggin Movie. Love the soundtrack as well.
Kalifornia.... eh
Shaun of the Dead is considered a horror/comedy that I must say tons of hardcore horror fans love it due to the fact that it's such a great homage to the Romero films , and funny as hell.

Have yet to see the sequel but heard mixed reviews on it. I'll watch it anyway when I stumble across it.

yeah, that's the boat i'm in. From what i've hear the oprning has the most thinly veiled WTC reference of all time though.
