Generally, the award for winning this tournament is a CD*

*brand new, of course, but people have been allowed to unwrap and burn the CD before mailing it to winner in the past.

Does anyone remember who last year's winner was? Was it elephantstone?

RULES

Welcome to Yahoo! Sports Survival Football, a weekly game that challenges you to show your skills by correctly identifying a winning professional football team in each of the 17 weeks of the regular season.
Each week you must select one team that you suspect will be a winner in their game that weekend. If that professional team wins, you remain Active and are allowed to pick again the following week. If the professional football team you selected loses (or the game ends in a tie), you are Eliminated from the competition and may no longer make future picks.

To make this simple sounding game more of a challenge, you can only select each professional football team once while an Active member of an individual group.

Yahoo! Sports Survival Football is a free game that runs through the entire 2005 professional football regular season -- which begins on Thursday, September 8 and is scheduled to end on Sunday, January 1.
You may join the game at any time between Monday, August 1 and Friday, December 30. The first deadline for submitting a selection is 11:59 p.m. PT on Wednesday, September 7.

Users can join a maximum of 10 groups (either Public or Private) over the course of the professional football season, but may not have an Active status in more than one Public Group at a time.

Lastly, you may only leave a group if you do so before the group's first pick deadline. After the deadline passes, you will be locked in as member of that group and cannot leave it. Additionally, you may not join a specific group after its first pick deadline has passed.

The object of Yahoo! Sports Survival Football is to be the last Active member of your individual group.
In order to accomplish this goal, a user must correctly pick the winner of one professional football game each week.

But, to make this somewhat simple task more difficult, each user can only pick each professional football team once during the season (this does not carry across multiple groups).

If a correct selection is made, the user will remain Active for the following week. If an incorrect selection is made, that user will be Eliminated.

For all Public and Private Groups, the deadline to submit your final pick for the week is 11:59 p.m. PT on the day before the first game of that week.
For almost all weeks, this deadline will be 11:59 p.m. PT on Saturday, but it will change when there are Thursday or Saturday games.

Regretfully, it is not possible to edit picks after the weekly deadline. Similarly, it is not possible to join a group after the first weekly deadline for that group has passed.

You must make a pick every week in order to remain Active within an individual Group. Failure to make a pick by the weekly deadline will cause you to be Eliminated from competition within that Group.

It is not possible for group commissioners to edit picks after the deadline or reactivate individual members without resetting the entire group.

The Active/Eliminated status within an individual group will be updated after each night of games is completed.
The Overall Results and Pick Distribution percentages will be updated after the final game of each week (typically Monday).

Yeah, I recall someone starting a couple of new tourneys but we really should keep it to one this year.

Generally, the winner receives a brand new CD from all the other participants. If anyone is really against it yet still wants to participate, a CD mix is very much appreciated.

Didn't you get most of your CDs? I recall you getting quite a few stuff in the mail.
