This view of NYC amazes especially when you and your buddies in Atlanta seem to experience crime after crime.

I've lived in NYC my whole life and I don't recall ever feeling threatened or have experienced anything close to what you have. Now, is it because you and your posse over there seem to look for trouble? It just might be.

But I'm curious to know from the Obnerites who live in NYC. Do you feel unsafe? I sure don't.

OPA!, I don't use winkies, but I hope you know I was joking. I did say that despite Yail's recent carjacking, we rarely if ever encounter crime not of our own doing.

I had some bad experiences in NY, but growing up in the Bronx that's bound to happen.

Never got down on the city or let it get to me to the point of being scared or not going where I wanted, when I wanted.

NYC has always got a bad rap despite the fact that lots of cities (uh, like Atlanta) are statistically more unsafe.

Although, it should be noted that in my youth I tended to be the perp rather than the victim.

Winkies are pretty meh...I will say that I have NEVER felt unsafe in NYC, except on Sept. 13, 2001 when I accompanied my uncle to work, just to check shit out, and they were evacuating the train station by MSG..and he worked in the Chrysler Building..it was all kinda weird, but what wasn't that week?

I have been drunk/high/wasted on mushrooms on the Subway, and asked people for directions, smoked a blunt in the House that Ruth built with 2 Puerto Rican dudes who thought the fact I was from GA was the funniest thing they had ever heard, and generally been in the time/place to gets fucked with, and never had anything happen. Same with the A, and the NO as well...I guess it DOES help to be DAT MONSTER.

Yeah, I remember that. I work a couple of blocks away from the Chrysler building, and some time in the afternoon, we had to evacuate and were sent home. I believe it was a Thursday. It had to do with a bomb scare at Grand Central Station.
So close yet so far. ;)
