Do you think they were too noisy, or do you think that that's what turned most people off from them? Other than that 11-minute piece on Black Foliage that isn't all that interesting (but still has it's moments), I think they incorporate the noise well into their music.

Yeah, they did for a long time; but it got to be much; the irony was not lost on me that the kings of the scene had descended into a much more wanked out band than even the most gratuitous jammies of the time.

Did they ever do any "extreme noise" type of shit live? I always wished that they experimented more with feedback and effects than raindrop-sounds and tape-loops, if that makes sense.

Yail--whatever man. you know that was a 'respectful disagree.' you know your shit so I wasnt trying to dis.

and yes, to be around that whole segment of E6 during the 90s heyday?!? damn. yr one lucky muh-fuh. but you know that ;)

the whole OTC noisy thing. I gotta say I've heard that a LOT from people in the past as far as their live show goes...never gotten to witness that unfortunately. However, I do really like the long found-sound/instrumental sections on Black Foliage and (especially) Dusk. Man, I even dig the Black Swan Network and Explanations II records.

ahhhh...elephants...

My only run-ins with these people was (for the most part) during some of the crazy, mix-em-ups festival typea gigs back in Athens, where some other band I loved would be playing, and I'd stick around and see the other bands too.

Star Room Boys were playing a festival down on the river, like an hour outside of town, once. I recall driving just a long-ass way to get there, and it turned out to be a canoe rental place where someone built a stage down on the grass near the water. I would only attempt this for the Boys, as they were good friends and my favorite local band by a mile (saw something like 30 or 40 shows in my 7 years in town). And after a few "who the fuck are you" bands, Elf Power came on, and got allll kindsa noisey. Andrew Reiger, is that his name? Tall guy, red hair, awkward? Do I have the right band? I remember thinking "this is probably really good, but I'm not ready for it at this stage in my life."

Always liked NMH best, then OTC and OM third. But Of Montreal's new one has tipped the favor to them. I think they'll be around the longest and their body of work will be evaluated better than that of other E6 groups.

When I saw them open for OTC a couple months ago, I was really impressed by the Band and especially the songs introduced as off the newest album. I'm still curious to hear it but havent gotten off my wallet as to search it out.

It was looser and more monger-y than i remembered their sound being.

Maybe Drinky or Derris can fill in since they were in attendance.

I was really impressed, but that was the first and only time I've ever heard them. So I'm not much help.

I voted for OTC even though I've always thought their albums were too long. They have the best songs of the E6 bands I'm familiar with.

Of those listed, Of Montreal. But, I voted "Other," because Beulah is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than all of them combined!

ATTN: HAQDIESEL and the Politically Correct All Stars (dibs on this band name) not for nuthin, but y'all know DAMN WELL me or Bloor wouldn't get away with this one. As egregious as we are at going up to the line, this shit never happens.

And, as for the topic at hand...OTC blows every one of these away. I have vague, cludy memories of most of the stuff Bloor is talking about, but I remember being at 860 N. Chase one night when some fucking amazing magic was coming out of the stereo and asking what it was and Bloor and Ahhh being like "OLIVIA TREMOR CONTROL, OMFG STFU!!!" after that I always snuck this disc in late at night or driving around by myself. (To my friends this would either have been 'hippy shit' or 'faggot shit')

NMH = THE MOST OVERRATED BAND EVER. I only really like one song "Holland, 1945" and can abide "In the Aeroplane" but i'll be damned if the Matt Pond version ain't better.

you're operating under the assumption that i read other peoples' posts. it was a fluke that i caught what you guys were saying... mostly i'm just here to do like everyone else and post my opinion without reading anyone else's.

matt pond is weak, WEAK. even my 16-year-old sister figured that out, and she has all of the Lifehouse albums.

Well, I'll take Lifehouse over PooPoo Bear or whatever shit your bumping this week. And a) Way to avoid the topic. b) You can't beat a band that covers Holiday Road.

Also, this is exhibit #12627 that you (and most of the obs) hold people to different standards, which I believe was my main point of contention in the Cowboy Troy/Spade argument and the pith discussion w/CMan @Mexes.

Wow, I thought you and Uncle Monger would know much better that i would never use words like that..Z-Grade Home-schooled buster, who has an obvious hard-on/bi-curious infatuation with all things LooGAR that manifests itself in criticism, MAYBE..but "stupid dick" that's too easy 8)

It's so nice and safe sitting in front of your monitor where the "niggers" can't tear you a new one.

i hope the next lifehouse cd bears a sticker saying "'i'll take it over poopoo bear' - a guy on the internet".

how do you want me to address the topic? the difference is that she realizes what she said is racist. try not to get to worked up about what standards you're being held to, unless it's by the government.

radcliffe, i'm sorry, but if you were born again, there's no "used to"... that's like saying, "i used to be castrated." roughly.
