me? that was one the least hippiefied shows i went to throughout high school. sonic youth was probably the hippiest band there. them or bjork.

i remember when radiohead came on it was like noon or something and 200 degrees outside. we were all hitting this flask in the upper bleachers at Randall's Island and my one buddy squinted at Thom Yorke and said "that's the ugliest chick i've ever seen".

Well, yeah. It's sortof a running joke betwixt myself and I, when I see "Free Tibet" bumperstickers on cars ahead of me, I squint Dirty-Harry-style and mutter "pshh, hippy." It makes me chuckle.

I'm 90% sure that most of the people here with those stickers couldn't find Tibet on a map, but just want to be in the club. "Whose freedom are we demanding this week?"

not to mention that China's torturous occupation of Tibet is only slightly worst than their own feudal history, if that. i love that people make it out like Tibet used to be this sunshine factory run by koala bears and candy men.

But that's what it says on my brochure. There's Mr. Gingerbread Man on the shop floor... sunshine. yay.

I was at that Phish Halloween show at The Omni (10-31-96) where they covered "Remain In Light" in its entirety.

It has been released on CD as part of their LivePhish series.

Probably some other ones too but I'm not real sure what all they have out.

June 8, 1994 -- (Caberet) Metro

They opened the show with "In the Street" and just BURNED through their set. Chilton was like a man possessed. Auer and Stringfellow contributed spot-on vocals for the Chris Bell songs (including a brilliant version of "I Am teh Cosmos").

Well, Chilton was brilliant until the final song - "O My Soul" - where he fell back into his not-giving-a-shit attitude. But that was just one song and it was at the end of a long, glorious show.
