OK, thanks to this, I can see my way clear to un-excommunicating "She Was Hot" and "Too Much Blood."

Brian Wilson -- Smile -- I couldn't even get through this...not sure why, but it's a bit too much for me these days.

Faith No More -- Angel Dust -- sorry Yail, there may have been a time and place that I could have liked this, but the early 90s are over and eating acid in someone's garage was never that fun anyway

Joy Division -- Closer and Unknown Pleasures -- DO PEOPLE REALLY LIKE THIS?

Like 5 Kinks albums that aren't Muswell Hillbillies. -- If I need to hear about the Village Green, I will have brunch at Uncle Brian's.

The Smiths -- Singles -- Unlistenable

Wire -- Pink Flag -- just couldn't stand the site of this offal anymore.

Sacrilege.

I thought about doing this the other day b/c I can't stand it when British Sea Power comes up when I put it on random. I would have kept the Kinks,Banhart, and maybe 1 or 2 others but for the most part you did good.

If I could I would delete Morrissey and the Smiths from everyone' s ipod. I'll never understand how people complain about Bright Eyes being "affected" and then bow to the alter of Morrissey.

I don't bow to Morrissey's altar, but I do think that his voice is humorous or ironic as opposed to intended to convey actual affectation, but that's a matter of interpretation.

It is a matter of interpretation, but I think he is dead serious.

I don't knwo or care, but the tunes are crap and Johnny Marr can bugger off as well. So beyond bad I just really don't get how people liked it in the first place, I really pretty much do hate English music from the 80s, as is evidenced by many of the albums I deleted.

On a brighter note, my ipod seems to have completely shit the bed, so I guess I may have to deleted everything and start over! YEAH!

Affected is not what bothers me as I like Bright Eyes. It's the crappy tunes. But if that is your complaint and you own and still wear a Meat is Murder shirt than I don't understand you.

I can't remember what I recently deleted from my IRiver other than Wilderness because once I take it off there I usually delete it from my computer too.

I've still got 12.5gb of space on mine and at last count I had about 5000+ songs on there.

I don't really have a problem with anything you deleted other than Faith No More, Bloc Party, The Futureheads or The Kinks. You're a retard for keeping any Ryan Adams albums other than his first 2 though.

this holds true for quite a lot of things, but no one should waste time on Moz.

I am Leaving on approximately 16 Bob Dylan albums I never listen to just because I cannot bring myself to jettison Bob Dylan

Fiona Apple -- When the Pawn -- again, could never come up with a time when listening to this seemed like a good idea.

I am keeping waaaaaay too many GBV albums, even though I have the greatest hits, because again, they are good on random

I will keep 1000 Johnny Cash albums, though I rarely listen to them, because The Man in Black, along with Bob Dylan, will someday be recognized as prophets of Biblical Proportions.

Joy Division -- Closer and Unknown Pleasures -- DO PEOPLE REALLY LIKE THIS?

Pavement -- S&E and CRCR...despite the attempts of Yail, and their massive cred in certain circles, this just doesn't appeal to me.

I am keeping the 32,453 Spoon Tracks that FT sent me for 2 reasons. 1) Many of them are enjoyable and I like them more when on random 2) I swear when Britt and them are on, they are fucking ON and I want this shit to click again like the first time I put on Girls Can Tell.

Wire -- Pink Flag -- just couldn't stand the site of this offal anymore.

I concur

Your board. Do what you want.

How am I being a jerk? I stated my opinion about not understanding the lovefest for the Smiths. I was under some misguided notion that this was a messageboard for opinions on music. You make some passive aggressive remark, and I respond in the same tone.

Why does everything have to be some intellectual pissing contest with you?

the good thing about not knowing anything about music is, you can listen to what you like and not have to name check influences and big-up people who influenced bands you liked. hell if it weren;t for a lot of Blues bands I wouldn't have The Stones or The Allmans, but that doesn't mean I like their influences as much as I like them.

Also, way to switch around the argument, and make no real case for Moz or The Smiths.

Ouch, man. I was just kidding with the jerkhead thing, and with the "I should stop listening thing." There are lots of reasons to hate the Smiths... I just thought it was funny that both of you said "yeah but the songs suck."

I was trying to be ANTI-intellectual.

Jerkhead.

And LooGAR, I'm just saying dismissal of Johnny is a little hasty... even if you don't like his delivery, he had some great ideas. I'm not trying to "switch around the argument." I think Johnny's stuff is cool, though I think the later Smith's stuff as a whole doesn't date that well, and the criticism goes double for early Moz solo.

this thread contains an undercurrent that i am enjoying;

oh, and Loog: keeping those GBV albums is a COMPLETE waste of space: The Greatest hits is fine for that band.

Apologies. Internet can be a tricky thing.

<--------Feels like a jerkhead.

To elaborate I think they wrote bad songs with bad lyrics. Marr's guitar is fine, but not enough to look past bad songs and 80's production.
