So Steve Jones (ex Sex Pistols) is a DJ on Indie 103.1FM, as most of you know. Today he opened the show with Super Furry Animals’ “Laser Beam” and said that this might be the first time SFA has been played on commercial radio here in Los Angeles. It’s starting…

Then after that he plays stuff like “Bitch,” “Ace Of Spades” and “Happy Jack.” Turn over to KROQ and they are playing “88 lines about 44 women,” so it has been a very good day for radio. This morning Indie played all Hardcore Punk, because of the guest, for the morning show, so hearing stuff like Bad Brains was a special treat with my caffeine rush.

Indie 103.1 is making a huge dent in Los Angeles with there biggest rating ever this last period. That in turn is making KROQ play better music because they are slipping just a little bit in the radio game.

Steve's memory isn't always the best. He's played SFA quite a few times before as have KCRW.

Commercial radio was the key word, that being said, I’m just a happy guy that it’s on the radio.

The edited or unedited version?

And yeah, Jonesey's played the SFA many times before. But he IS the Pontiff Of Pop, after all.

Aural made me laugh.

Stevie is on a roll, Nina Hogan (sp?), David Bowie, Queen, and Placebo were all played in the last set.

It was the un-edited version, I believe.

I think he was talking about new stuff from SFA than, I didn't hear the whole thing...

Edit: my spelling is atrocious at times.

Between Indie 103 & KDAY the old guards of KROQ & POWER are suffering and I love it. Jonesie is great I need to listen more. He plays a lot of early Eno

I'd bet POWER is gonna go Reggaton the second the major labels give them the ok. All their marketing is geared towards the Latino community. Every event or promo they have has a Latin cultural tie in. KJLH goes after the African American crowd & is very involved in the community. KDAY goes after Old School Hip Hop fans isolated by todays commercial Hip Hop radio & people that remember when POWER was afraid to play Hip Hop
