Two shows. Same night.

Wrens - 1 hour away
Sigur Ros - 2.5 hours away

Can anyone recommend one over the other from a show standpoint?

Like both a lot. Haven't seen either. I would pick Sigur Ros under those circumstances.

not even a question here!

SIGUR ROS.

seeing them will be an experience. seeing the wrens will be "hey those guys were -pretty good- live".

Wrens

Easy one...unless you have access to really good drugs.

i've seen both live, and my opinion is that sigur ros is both worth the drive, and altogether the more memorable experience. the wrens can be great, but they can also be pretty off sometimes.

I've only seen Sigur Ros, which was an excellent show, but a bit more cerebral than I prefer my live shows to be. But yes, it's otherworldly at times

Sigur Ros.....I'd recommend them if they were playing 4 hours away and the Wrens were playing next door......and I like the Wrens, as alluded to before Sigur Ros is more of an experience....

i've seen the wrens, so i'd pick Sigur Ros. But, the wrens were really great live. they seem to exude mass amounts of intensity live.

still in the end you win, i wish i had that choice right now.

I was bored to death seeing Sigur Ros.

play the record alone in the dark, and stare at the wall...save $40 bux..same show.

I saw em on thier first trek thru NYC at Irving PLaza and the show was great...A few people on the floor even passed out around me...I hear it was due to a round of bad drugs floating around the venue rather then their performance. That was a good show..

Several months later, I saw them at the Beacon Theatre....The opener was great..name escapes me right now....

Sigur came out, and all of em sat on rugs facing eachother....didn't move...acknowledge the crowd....the songs were so eerily performed to the record, that it could have been a recording of them....The backdrop was a silhouette of a telephone wire with birds landing on and flying off it.....

90 minutes of this...I was bored to tears....

The performance was fine. Musically brilliant....But maybe Im from the old school metal school of thought....If Im gonna pay to see a band perfom live, I want a bit more then that....I couldnt wait to get out of there......I was miserable...

And it continued on and I could never totally get into '()'...

but hearing all the good stuff about the new record, Im getting excited again......Plus, when I saw 30 Seconds to Mars last week, they were playing Sigur Ros before they came on....

I saw them at the Riviera in Chicago and made the conscious choice of going up to the balcony and getting a seat, which was a good move. I definitely would have enjoyed it less if I had to stand the whole time. At the show I saw, though, there was sufficient variation from the album versions, or at least the immense power of the live sound made it seem different.

Pretty much my experience seeing them in Atlanta at Tabernacle. Was on the 3rd balcony for a while and then moved to the 2nd balcony. They were pretty mobile throughout the show - not thrashing about or anything, but far from sitting and watching each other play. One of the best shows of my life.

If you are really into Sigur Ros, you need to see them live for sure. I drove 7 hours to Atlanta (albeit, I stayed for a long weekend with my buddies there), and it was definitely worth it.

I should note that both times that I saw them they played at venues with seats and everybody pretty much remained seated through their performance and relaxed and kind of spaced out to their music - to me this is the MUCH prefered way to see them.

I have only seen the Wrens once, but they were friggin stellar. I haven't seen Sigur Ros yet... though I can't imagine you'd be disappointed by either.

i have seen both. neither put on a great show. sigur ros showed home-made movies in the background and other lights around the room. they basically just stood there and played. i closed my eyes plenty of times and got the same experience as everyone else. the wrens are your average band that plays music and moves around a little. i think sigur ros is capable of putting on a better show, but this one should depend on who you like more.

you're all insane.

I've never seen the Wrens be anything less than amazing on stage.

i agree with the majority here. wrens are a good rock show, but there are plenty of good rock shows. sigur ros is an original experience especially if you're into their music. finding a place to sit is recommended and i'd say don't go drunk 'cause you may doze off. other drugs might not be a bad idea. . . . "i can't seeeee the music" quoth lisa simpson.

in case you can't tell, my vote is for [b]sigur ros[/i]

i haven't seen either live, but i'd pick sigur ros since they rarely tour over here. the wrens pass through often enough.
