Meg Ryan – Self =fuck yeah.
Closer To The Heart – Rush = edit: good shock
Both of Our Towns – Star Room Boys = this would've slayed me at the end of an evening.

Awesome as always, particularly Iron Maiden followed by MMJ.

Sorry to miss this week's festivities, but the Flynn's had to let some other people win.

The skinny on Martini's is that the crew has had it up to here with the douche. Busty and Yail can attest to the difficulties of doing busines with this tightest of all tightwads. There's rumours of IRS problems, but I have no facts. I do know that most of the staff do not get paychecks and live entirely off of tips.

No big surprise there with the long slow descent into mediocrity and playing to the masses. The place started with character and a bit of class and has sadly become a teen club with ashtrays and beer.

So now I only go there for Bingo.

This all kinda sucks cuz I have a $1,000 bar tab (from winning the Haloween costume contest) and am hard-pressed to invite friends to come and and party at a place in obvious decline.

Damn, that place was kinda cool, not least because of hiring Hasslehof to do the mural. Plus he flew my ass down from WI so we could play a show (or two). That was above and beyond.

Sadly this is a common tale in the restaurant/bar business. Owners start to make a buck, then another, then they want to make 6 and 7. They become preoccupied with making more money and forget what started making it for them in the first place.

Its pretty complicated: Adouche has waaaaay too many businesses going, the GM he hired ended up being a backstabber and he let his staff decline from excellent(katie, jen, austin, katt) to GARRRRBAGE....

So now, Adouche is "taking over" again; Dunno, how it will turn out but dude is a pretty smart guy.

And as to his business dealings: Yeah, he's got some shortcomings but I've NEVER had a problem getting paid because I refuse to not be paid. The night that I dont get paid is the night that bar doesnt open the next day b/c they have no booze to sell.

Yail, is your night usually on a monday or tuesday?

I'm looking into coming up to ATL for the Sigur Ros show next month on the 9th [monday]. Is your gig near Symphony Hall? Would like to come check it out if i get the chance.

If I switch to this other bar, it will be Tuesday; my regular gig is on Monday.

I live about 30-40 minutes south of the city (burbs) but I'd love to have you and can even offer you a warm bed at Redlands.

Are you flying or driving? I do live on the airport side of town if that helps.

There are several, yes. I have everything thing up through the toy instrument album, and saw them 3 times once upon a time. First tour was for the first album, and slew me. That's back when his brother was playing guitar with him. Second time a friend got me into a show by posing as his light man (he was a news videographer). The venue sucked, but they didn't. Third time was them opening for Cracker in Athens GA.

That first album set me on my ear almost as much as Gish did, and I told Matt as much after the first show I saw him play (for all of about 15 people, sadly). Just unbelievable pop music.

Word! Yea, they are probably my all time fave. Just some unbelievable music over the last 10 years. You got all the internet albums? Ornament and Crime? I'll know to pay attention now when you talk music.

Yeah, Im a fan.

"Meg Ryans" got a nice little hip-hop thing to go along with the sing-songy poppiness which I thought made it a good song to spin....

Those I don't have. I'm pretty slack about keeping up these days, but I've probably played those 3 or 4 Self discs as much as I've ever played anything. Variety, hooks, weight when you need it, just waaay above-average.
