What a wonderful drug fueled mess. As sloppy as any Stones tune, and Doherty sounds like he's properly fucked.

Awesome!

Yo D, if this link gets used up before I get home tonight, I may have to ask for a recharge.

What are the odds that he dies or is hospitalized for an overdose by the end of the year?

no probs Yail. glad you're as obsessed as i am :)

Aural, i think they'll probably find him and Kate barely alive in some lavish hotel room after a huge gig in London. then he'll clean up, marry one of the spice girls, and join the Sky News crew. it's coming, i can feel it.

This was from a weekly Boston paper the other day. It's pretty funny.

Quote:
Those of you who follow the cheap melodrama of the UK press undoubtedly know that the NME has a continually throbbing boner for a man named Pete Doherty. Doherty is a former member of The Libertines and the current luckiest man alive. Sure, he’s a pale, emaciated drug addict, but never in my life have I seen the NME go so easy on someone. It used to be that a band like Kula Shaker would be on top of the world one week, and then they would make some idle comment about wanting huge flaming swastikas onstage, and suddenly NME would come down like a big flat paper hammer, and now Crispian Whatshisface is living on cigarette butts and free kittens. True story, except for the part about eating kittens, which is educated conjecture. With Doherty, however, NME has steadfastly held to the “tortured genius” line, even though he’s recently broken up both The Libertines and Babyshambles, missed about 80 percent of his scheduled live appearances and allegedly punched a reporter in the face. It’s like the editor posted a sign that said “Pete Doherty: ‘Tortured Genius’ Until Further Notice,” and then skipped town for six months, leaving his staff doing handstands to spin idiocy into legend. Even bad singles can’t conjure up bad press; NME’s recent review of Babyshambles’ “Fuck Forever” single managed to half-admit what a piece of crap the single was while still vigorously fellating its creator. Actual undoctored quote: “Who can fail to find pathos in it, knowing the hell that the man who wrought it was going through during its creation?”

How often does the train go by?

Also a big Pete fan here. I wonder if he'll ever get it together enough to tour the US?
