We don't bring up sexual preferences in the Jr. High educational process very often. Not advocating homosexuality does not make me ignorant, I just have a different set of beliefs. A set of beliefs that I am not ashamed of. Now, making a correlation between my profession and my feelings about homosexuality is ignorant.

"Not advocating" something is a little different from calling it "creepy and sick".

For the record, people should be talking about sexual preference in jr high; these days kids come out at that age.

Gay bashing is not going to get you very far on this board.

Re: the actual topic of this thread... yeah, although I'm sure there are some exceptions, that kind of age difference is kind of weird. My recently single bro was hanging out with a "mature" 18 year old woman for awhile (he's 26) but soon realized it was a bad idea on a bunch of different levels. Now he's back with the older women (heh heh). Both my grandpas married women 6-8 years older than them... it worked for them.

My man is a 1 year young than me so I like to tease him about dating an "older woman".

You say potato, I say tater. My intent was not gay-bashing. Anyone who read it as that was just looking for a reason to come down. I know several people who are gay, and I have no problem with them on a personal or social level. If you ask me to imagine the act, especially with males, then yes, that's what I find creepy or sick. That is what I was referring to.

Do I agree with homosexuality? No.

Am I going to a gay pride parade and toss a hand grenade onto the first float? Of course not.

Am I going to curse the person who disagrees with me on #1 like a dog and question his intelligence repeatedly? That's three negatories.

Am I still the bad guy to liberal America? Hmm...

Give it a rest.

You've obviously made your point.

Can I do anything about it? No.

Unfortunately, in this country, it's become popular again to think the way you do about homosexuals. My problem with it is, everytime people, like you, slam homosexuals, it gives another person license to act on it physically by committing a hate crime. By calling, what I do in my own bedroom creepy and sick, you're only encouraging others to treat us as if we were creepy and sick, and that sickens me.

Try preaching tolerance. If you did that, this argument wouldn't have ever occured. Think about that when you're praying at night, and trying to teach your children how to be decent human beings.

I find it awesome that OPA's boyfriend 's religion is always thrown in there.

And rim jobs are disgusting in Homo and Hetero relationships.

that's gross. but totally common. I remember this girl I was seriously in love with was going out with a 28 year old and she was 17. We hung out all the time and she was very much about him. She basically treated it like an excuse to mature oneself. It was the only time I've ever had sex with someone else's girlfriend in my life. it was great.

Wrong. It doesn't give anyone license to do anything when he simply says that he disagrees.

At the same time, if I say that I think tracing some other guy's hairy asshole with my tongue is disgusting, that also doesn't incite any violence towards any homosexuals.

Not to come down on Stop Breathin', but this whole thing reminds me of a conservative teacher I had in college.

He was famously quoted as saying "I disagree with The Gays..."

You're being assholes. Seriously.

Leave Chris alone. He has a right to feel a bit persecuted here.

Fine, disapprove of it, whatever. But you can be a bit more tolerant of it. I have NO problem with any homosexual lifestyle, he's still a person after all.

Stop being dickheads to him.

And Polly is right, gay bashing is NEVER ok.

I ...ahem...have a friend who "wooed" an underage girl. He didn't know it at the time, and by the time he found out, it was too late -- he was in love. He's since gotten over her, and now even he looks at himself during that period as creepy.

Sometimes we make mistakes so that we know not to make them. Sometimes, our purpose in life is merely as an example to others.

I agree with telling him he's an idiot. A lot of people told...erm...my friend...that he was an idiot. To this day, he agrees with them. He only wishes someone had gotten through to him sooner.

I recently learned a friend who is in his late 30's is romantically involved with an 18 year old. She's freshly graduated from high school and still lives with her folks. Apparently, has been wooing (for lack of a better word) for a year. If ya do the math (subtract the one, carry the two...), she was 17 when the interest began.

Now, maybe it's just me, but isn't that on the pervy side? Oh sure, if he were just looking for a slampiece, I might understand. But, he's not which is the creepy part!

Since most of you are guys, what's your opinion? Would you become romantically involved with an 18 year old in your late 30's?

So back to the original post.... yeah, I think it's creepy. An 18 year old girl is far from knowing what she wants, but I can remember having thoughts like, "Hmm, wonder what it'd be like to be with an older man?" But I never acted on it. For the guy, to be in his late 30s and even find anything to talk to the 18 year old girl about... well, that's just amazing.

I have a friend who got married recently, he's 36, she's 25. They started dating when she was 21-22. And if I'm not mistaken, my guy friend was her first sex partner (aside from canoodling and making out and all that stuff). Now in her defense, she is a very mature young woman who knows a hell of lot more than I ever did at that age. But we joked often about how we'd talk about supposedly common knowledge stuff, and then the girlfriend would be all, "Wha??" And then we'd remember... oh yeah, she was born in 1979. It got a little tiresome sometimes to be explaining stuff like that to her. And it takes the fun out of little "in-jokes."

On another note, my dad is 12 years older than my mom. I think as we get older and get more life experiences, it makes these age differences a little more transparent. It usually occurs somewhere around mid- to late-20s. I worked for a woman in NC whose husband was 18 years older than her, so probably similar to your friend's situation, Tania. I just thought she was a gold-digger, and as it turned out, she was.

But as for your friend, if it's not just for sex, he's an idiot.

Well, for the record, most of my friends are younger than me. Especially the industrial/goth crowd.

I date younger guys (always have), but you've gotta draw the line somewhere. The greatest age gap between me and a guy has been 17 years. Am I pushing it? Maybe, but at least I don't need a note from his mommy and can take him into 21+ venues.

I'm 31 and I'd consider dating someone 10 years younger than me if she was mature enough. I try not to allow myself to go any further back than that though.
