by The Clash actually a Rush song in disguise or what??

Was just listening to it through headphones while I cut grass and somewhere between the bass sound and the vocals, there lies a hidden gem by Rush.

Punk rock, indeed.

I think you're alright Yail, and you're lucky I suspect the Sen., Busty and Derris have infected the water lines at Redlands with some sinister concoction that's limiting your perceptive judgement.
Because otherwise I'd slap you in the face.

Lost In The Supermarket was Joe Strummer writing a song about Mick Jones (and getting him to sing it to boot!) without Mick knowing it.

I don't hear Rush, but it wouldn't bug me if I did.

I was all lost in high school when the clash's song came out.

Yali, I'll have to go back and listen more carefully tonight.

Stogey, in hand, The Clash on the port CD player, and a cold Grolsh in the other will fully allow me to explore The Rush connection, as I sit on the back porch and watch the evening sky.

Thnx man,

audiobill

This is one of my 8 yr old's favorite songs.

It's weird but he dances like crazy if I put this song. Ever since he was 4.

One of my favourite songs. Powerful verses. But no Rush.

I can kinda see it musically...I think Rush could pull off an instrumental cover version of it.

But they'd never be able to pull off a line like "I wasn't born, so much as I fell out" like The Clash. Never.

I don't think so. If it's a Rush song, where's the 5-minute drum solo? Do you really think Neil Peart would consciously play a song in such an understated manner? Not to mention the lack of a screaming guitar break.

Though I guess you did say it was "in disguise". Food for thought I'spose.

When's the last time a Rush song had a five-minute drum solo (not a live version).

And:

You say that like it's a bad thing.

And:

If I had talent like his, I wouldn't restrain myself, neither.

Fair enough, but you can't tell me you wouldn't have gone for a long shit when Bonham went into "Moby Dick".

Hey, Mr Mahoney.

I'm new to this board. Glad to be here. I've been at the RaveRecs board for the last five years, or so & decided to broaden out.

What's your favourite stogey of the moment??

Mine is the El Rey del Mundo, cuban robusto. Rich and complex.

Cheers,

Bill aka audiobill

Don't know, haven't been paying attention...just feeding the overplaying-prog player stereotype, for which Peart seems to be the poster boy.

Do I? I like the Joe Morello solo from Take 5.

So would I...errr wouldn't I

Exactly. You been listening to Jay too much. There is no such thing as overplaying, only good playing and bad playing. Neil Peart plays exactly the appropriate amount, not too much, not too little. If he were less talented, then he should play less (I.E. anyone else),...but he isn't.

In the humidor are Padron Executives, Cojimar Torpedos with vanilla on the wrapper and Cusano 18s. My guy at the tobacco shop has been getting some Cuban tobacco wrapped in Honduras. They don't have a label, and they are nice for $9 each, so I've been smoking a lot of those.
