what did you do with it?

A new 30g drive looks to cost at least $175, which is $25 more than I paid for the thing to begin with, and while I was at it I would probably get a new battery since mine's down to about a 2hr charge, so it would cost like $225 to repair, which is more than a Zen Xtra 30gb costs new.

Should I just sell it "as-is" on ebay and see if anyone's dumb enough to want it?

oh, and this is NOT the place to talk about how your ipod lasted longer because you lead a less interesting life than me.

I see a fair amount of mp3 players of all conditions on craigslist.

They diagnose it for $29...shouldn't be as much as you are talking about for repairs...

Haq, my dad just bought a 60 to replace his totally functional first gen 20. You can make an offer, if you like.

If you've given up on trying to fix it, I'd donate it to charity. Whatever they get for it would help them, and you can claim its value as more than its really worth in its current condition on your taxes.

After giving everyone shit for buying ipods, my player has been giving me problems. Plays fine but I can't access the files on my computer anymore to add and delete. I think I used up too much memory and there's not enough ram on the machine or something cause my computer recognizes the device but I don't see the drive and I get timeout errors when its trying to connect. Frustrating as hell though.

That shit happened with my mother-in-law's TV this past weekend.

Wasn't working so I opened her up(the tv, not my mother-in-law) tried a few things to no avail. We went out looking for something new for her but couldn't find anything. Got back to her place, plugged the TV back in and it was working fine. :?:
