I only have one full-length, Raise, and it's pretty good, I guess. I also have a couple of EPs w/ "unreleased" songs on 'em.

If you'd like to hear 'em, I could put them on a CD for you. PM me if interested.

They just came out with a double-disc retrospective, but for my money Mezcal Head is their finest record.

among my top 3 favorite bands.

anything is excellent by swerve but for maybe their last record, 99th Dream, which is good, just not as good as their previous releases.

my fave is mezcal head. duress and never lose that feeling/never learn are among my favorite songs of all time. they're just that good.

juggernaut rides will get you some of their early singles and b-sides that are also amazing.

if you had to have one album, get mezcal head. you'll LOVE it. i wish i were just discovering this band for the first time. you have hours of stellar music ahead of you.

Pretty sure their two best records, 91's Raise and 93's Mezcal Head are out of print. You can probably find them in used bins or on eBay or Amazon.
If you're looking for a pretty-much complete run-down of their catalog, go with the previously mentioned Juggernaut Rides comp that was released earlier this year.

One of my top 5 all-time favs. Greatly underappreciated/under-heard band.

I can make copies of all this stuff for ya if you'd like. I don't know if I'll be able to make it to the thing tomorrow night, but I can swing by at some point soon.

I did find a copy of Juggernaut Rides at the Alewife Newbury Comics, but at none of the others...

Also, I think the Juggernaut Rides collection is a bit uneven and even somewhat poorly sequenced. All of the songs are quality, but I much prefer hearing songs like "Behind the Sounds..." and "Never Lose That Feeling" in their original contexts.

Of course, my favorite era of the band is *not* the pre-Mezcal Swervies, even though I like the songs from that incarnation plenty...

This album is mind blowing, well in 1993 it was.

Mezcal Head is a perfect record. A ton of shivers to be had.

Have you folks seen them live? I had a really loud band that opened for them in Cincinnati in the late 90's, and it was weird because they were so quiet and restrained. I was expecting this mad, rushing wave of guitar, but it was almost polite. They were still great.

saw 'em live in 94 at the variety playhouse in atlanta. they were opening for smashing pumpkins' siamese dream tour. oh what a show...

next, i saw them in new orleans at the house of blues in 97, i think it was. alas, that was to be the last time. sigh...

Would someone like to YSI a few tracks here please? I don't think I've heard any of their music either.

You don't even need them YSI'd, to be honest.

Head to the SWD site: http://www.swervedriver.com

There's a whole bunch of stuff up there available for legal download. Most of it is live and not studio-recorded, but still worth checking out.

Was it the reference to mezcal that drew her/him out?
