So I'm trying to sell a bunch of cd's since I need some $$$.

Spun offered me $60

Second Spin offered me $135

Or should I just take them to a local record store and see what I can get there, which will probably be somewhere in between those two? And, I would get the cash immediately instead of having to wait.

135, Bob. (I'm also selling some off today, maybe a guitar too. blah.)

Go with the $135 or, better yet, go the eBay route (if you have the time/patience). Record stores will typically offer the least money.

From my experience, Spun accepted about half of my cds that I traded in. Dunno how good a condition you kept your cds in, but I was never careless with mine.

Unless you REALLY need the cash fast, I wouldn't bring them into a record store because I doubt you would even get as much as Spun is offering.

I'd be careful with both of those places. I've traded with them and they are extremely picky about how perfect the discs are. I take very good care of my discs and rarely find even small nicks on the bottom (as long as I bought them new - used is a crapshoot,) but they rejected quite a few just based on some very minimal scuffs that simply cannot be avoided and that would never in any way affect playback. I think it's a bit of a scam, really, because they know that if you really don't want those discs, it's more of a hassle for you to pay them to ship them back to you than to just leave them with them - and then they turn around and sell those leftovers in their "cutout bins." So keep that in mind: you'll have to pay to get back what they don't want. Sell 'em used on Amazon and Half, you'll likely get a lot more for them anyway, unless you just want money right now, in which case I say take 'em to your record store.

i think the happy medium is amazon. you can get great prices for cds with any kind of demand and you don't have to deal with auctions, which i find to be a little more tedious.

Did you gret $70 bux in credit? or cash?

cause the numbers that Spun quotes you is for credit in their store....if you want cash, i think you get 50% of the quoted price....

i find that second spin does pay more for cd's, but they have a much smaller database, so alot of stuff i look up is not even in there...

There's nothing too great I'm selling...311, Sublime, The Flys, Smashing Pumpkins (Adore, Machina), etc. It's just a bunch of crap I never listen to and don't even know why I have some of them.

I'm gonna sell them to the record store and then whatever they don't buy I'll post on here and if no one wants anything I'll sell them to Second Spin.

That's pretty lame that they make you pay for shipping to send them back to you, especially when you have to pay to ship the stuff you're selling to them.

Check on that first, because I thought they would send you a box to ship stuff back to them, postage-paid, and you were only responsible for paying to send them back from them to you. (I know you definitely have to pay to get what they don't want back.)

if you trade in a certain amount, they will send you a box to ship your stuff in postage-paid.
