although i have yet to see how they translate live. i can only assume it's incredible. i saw most of a concert from last year as part of some "on demand" cable thing and they just weren't as emotionally gripping to watch on a television screen.

but still.

and yes, elbow are so damned good.

I saw them live 2 yrs ago & they were very good. The opening band, however, called "South" blew them out of the water. In fact, Elbow was a bit of a let-down after South's one hour set.

Nevertheless, I continue to admire both of these bands' music.

South are a great live band, but i'm not too fond of their releases.

I've seen Elbow a few times. The last being an acoustic set while here in LA working on their latest album. Truly amazing.

I saw the South/Elbow show as well on Feb. 22, 2001 in San Francisco. Elbow happened to be one of the few concerts where the hair on the back of my neck stood up. One of the most incredible feeling that music can give you. South didn’t have a chance and they looked like they were about 15 years old.

The next day Elbow was at Virgin Records and I got to see it again, acoustic set. After the show, four songs or so, Guy passed around a notebook where you could sign it and write little notes, incredible.

I love the new album as well.

I am looking for proof of the unbelievability of Elbow. Soundclips whet the appetite, but did not provide me enough of a taste to determine if I'd buy the whole meal, so to speak. I have searched Colinswood for some proof, but was unable to dig up anything. Can anyone provide a poor soon-to-be dad with some quick and easy "proof"?

unbelievably mediocre

thoughts after three or four listens..

first half is solid if sunny.

second half is a snooze.

title track is awesome.

glad to hear the rhythm section gets to do something on this one, after they were suppressed and totally pwned by guy and rosie on 'cast of thousands.'

i realize this type of british wuss rock isn't thought of much on this board, but i am really enjoying their new record. "with love" is tremendous.

Oh, this board, bumping six years old threads out of fear of Radcliffe "pwning" them with an hyperlink & imprecation to "use the search function".

But it's not just Radcliffe. Shiv, Fu, or BlooGAR are just as likely to pull that.

the thread title is more or less what i would have said anyway.

This thread is a great example of exactly why it's better to use the search function - it gives some context to what the Obnership was saying about this band six years ago.

new album is superb. absolutely love it.

interestingly, i just posted this video to my facebook this morning.

and yeah, the killed at Coachella.

they're one of the few bands i watched on the webcast. his voice sounded great.

i was well impressed. first time catching them live. such a full sound.

They were one of my favorite sets from Coachella this year. I'd seen them a couple times previously and hadn't been too impressed. They blew me away last month.
