iDJ Mixing Console for iPod
The iDJ is a 2-channel mixer that enables mobile DJs and iPod enthusiasts to seamlessly integrate their portable music libraries with other music and sound reinforcement systems—transforming the iPod from a personal music player into a source playback device. With its compact form factor, comprehensive feature set, and a blue on white aesthetic appeal that blends perfectly with the iPod, the iDJ makes the music more accessible and the party better than ever.

-Two universal iPod docking stations will accept all model iPods with bottom connector and charge while connected
-Large iPod navigation controls
-3-band EQ with gain control on both channels
-Dedicated microphone input with tone and level control
-Phono/line inputs for adding additional devices on both channels
-USB connectivity (PC and Mac) enables iDJ to function as a music-loading base
-iPod’s recording capabilities supported by iDJ for voice memos, etc.
-Turntable spindle receptacle enables placement of the iDJ on a turntable
-Zero tolerance precision switches/knobs for a tight, precise feel

I suppose you could just hook any mp3 player up to a mixer but this looks so much cooler.

chase, it looks to me like the circular pads would be where you modify the pitch. at least i hope so. if not, this is worthless.

This would be cool for a club to let people bring their Ipods and have the DJ do a mix of their favourites. Too bad it leaves out people like me who have other mp3 players.

Also, no XLR/mic input=this thing is openly worthless because I'm not gonna run this into a mixer as well.

So, based on everything I read here, this thing will have a reliability rate of about 6.25%?

I just realized it's nice and all but can't you just hook an Ipod up to a regular mixer and make do with that?

yeah, you can. but if you're looking to blend tunes with pitch control, than you need something like this Numark gear.

The section I do at the paper is sponsoring a weekly night like this at a local bar. Come, sign up, when it's your turn you get 20 minutes to play DJ and at the end you get a free Tshirt. Only rule is you can't play the same artist more than once in your set (I call it the Doors/DMB Rule). End of the night there's drawings for bigger prizes.
Depending on how it's marketed it could either turn out pretty cool or devolve into a complete disaster.

We thought about getting one of these NuMarks to get things going, but we're just gonna wing it with janky mixer inputs for a bit.
