That I just got my latest issue of CMJ New Music Monthly (cover = Chad VanGaalen of Sub Pop records) and that so far this year I've received all my copies of on schedule and completely free of defects.

The new issue has about a dozen On The Verge artists plus features on Pelican, Xiu Xiu, Jason Forrest, T Rauschemire, Minus The Bear and Sufjan Stevens. And the reviews are more concise, which allows for more record coverage.

I know all us CMJ BB exiles have had our issues/concerns/problems with the magazine through the 2000s -myself especially, though I won't gripe publicly - but thus far the ship has been running right in 2005.

Well, everybody but MandyMoore... Fvdge?/doppelganger-hoochiemama, who has received every issue on a subscription for which he never paid, moreso which he never requested.

Well, then the new/improved CMJ should extend a free years subscription to all the people they screwed.

But, you didn't know - CMJ is actually acronymic for Caveat eMptor Journal?

I got my issue too, and I still love the magazine.

I'm about to pay for my renewal.

That's fucked up. I haven't seen a single issue this year.

I'd buy it if it were at the newsstands.

If you actually get your issues -- I haven't received a single one in years.

I have now, but it would have been more professional of them not to let my subscription lapse. I had a complete run since issue 2 up until then, and I can't afford to go back and get all the back issues between then and now, even if they had them all (which they don't). I'll let them send me my four outstanding issues, but I won't be renewing.
