Ok, so here it is in all it's glory. My first podcast. Go easy on me people.

A few things will improve over time: my delivery [i'm a virgin to this broadcasting shit, and you can tell], the mic quality [a bit rough, but hey]. I'll sort it out.

Anyways, the podcast is called Gimme 5, and each week will feature my favorite 5 tracks, from various genres, with details about each artist. I'll keep the chat to a minimum, as this show is about the music. Unless i'm drunk and go on a rant and call some of the Obner folks out.

Any criticism is welcome [constructive or non-constructive, it's all good  ]. I want to improve it as much as I can, so help me out.

You'll notice the Obner plugs. Represent niggas.

This weeks show features the following tracks:

01 the boyfriends - speak less and listen
02 canadiens - find out your 60's
03 clap your hands say yeah - heavy metal
04 cyne - untitled
05 vex'd - fire

Here's the link [hopefully Haq will sort out a proper link from the site:)]:
http://www.obner.org/dalen/gimme5.mp3

k, thas' it. please check it out, and gimme some feedback.

-D

as soon as i can figure out how to create an rss feed, or convert it to the format iTunes uses, i'm going to submit it. also gonna submit it to Odeo and Podcast Alley. hopefully i can arrange it to link back to Obner.org, but we'll see.

the next podcast is going to be 128kb as well. this is 96kb.

You wouldn't be a true podcaster without poor mic skills. Actually, you didn't too bad, and you picked some great songs. Get yourself a decent microphone and I think you'll be set.

You sound better than about 60% of the DJ's on WRAS so I wouldnt sweat the skills.

A couple suggestions:
1. A better mic will help
2. If you can EQ the mic, adding some bass and (longshot) compression wil make you sound more professional.
3. Slow down. Dont be afraid to make notes. (im sure you did)

LooGar and I recently had a discussion about what different people's voices sounded like. (Radcliffe i.e. I think sounds like a cross between Hunter S Thompson and Lou Reed). Your voice matches up my perception pretty well.

Overall I think this kicks ass and need to get off my ass and do something similiar.

Dude, I'm sure you did better than I.

I have the disadvantage of having a french accent. My poor english. Just mangling the crap out of it. :-) Hopefully, people find it endearing. 500+ listened to my feed in some form or another since I started this thing. It's mind boggling to me.

I dunno what i thought Dalen would sound like, and maybe its the tinny mic, but you sound wimpier than I thought you would ;)

Pretty cool, though, mang. Bloor --we REALLY need to kick this bugger into high gear, maybe a Dogs Season preview?

yeah man, i've got a wimpy voice. goes along with the wimpy british stuff pretty well right? :D actually the mic does add some more wimp to it though.

thanks for the comments guys. i'll search out a better mic, and definitely work with the overall sound of it.

yail, i did rush it a bit, and you can tell i guess. you're noticing is gonna help me out, thanks.

sponsors and shout outs are all coming in the next episodes as well  .

I thought it was pretty good, even if I didn't like the songs that much (that Cyne one wasn't too bad though). Definitely a good idea, and credit to you for actually getting one of these up.

This is wonderful Dalen, thanks. What a great idea.

Do you take requests? ;)

Regarding the sound & volume, it is a little low but I'm sure you're working on it.

Good job though. I knew I liked you for a reason.

Will your blogspot addy be the permanent one for your cast? I'm working on my links section right now and want to add yours in the mix.

This is the first time I've heard Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and I can see why the hype. They're very enjoyable. I liked it a lot but I'll wait til I hear a little bit more before I decide whether to buy it or not.
