i've got 1-9 done, but i have to turn my 10 in today. i'm having serious issues choosing one for #10. please vote/ explain why i should choose one over the others.

edit: this is not going to decide my top ten but merely help me decide a top ten... its good to get explanations beyond just a mere vote.

I didn't know Lesser Birds were in the running. You were all over that in Q1.

Voted Blood Brothers b/c I haven't heard the others, and it's pretty good.

It won't be in my top 10, though. Maybe top 20.

Ted Leo. I prefer his songwriting, and it's hard to see Kaki King's name in that list. I mean, i guess technically she's impressive, but it makes me violent. That and technically, she's really not that impressive, more rhythmic than anything and there are plenty of other acoustic guitarists in that vein who can rip of Michael Hedges, and still retain a sense of melody and song.

edit: did that make any sense at all? What i'm saying is she's smoke and mirrors and parlor tricks. Good tricks, executed poorly.

Ted Leo. Of the ones I've heard, at least. Writes a good song, seems like good guy, band kinda rocks.

are you mocking my review? i don't think she rips him off at all, he's a lot more classical/technical.

I haven't read your review. It's hard to get more technical (in the wanker sense) than two handed tapping, and when you say he's a lot more classical/technical, i translate that into she's trying to be technical and isn't doing a very good job of it.

I'd help, but I don't think that it'd be fair to decide for someone which album they like more...
I know you asked, but top tens are always a preference thing - if you were just asking for an opinion on a record, it'd be a bit different...

P.S. What are numbers 1-9, if you don't mind me asking.....

yeh, ive left a few dents in your shins. sorry about that. :)

i'd say that her strength is that she doesn't try to be too technical. when i say he's lot more technical/classical, i mean that's more his style. if anything, she's got much more technical approach to rhythm than she does with the instrument itself.

to be honest, she won't be #10. she'll be in the top 20, though. i shouldn've listed pinback instead.

apology accepted

Pinback has a much better album.

She'll be top 20 huh?

Have you seen the video for Playing with Pink Noise? It's at her website, and i think it illustrates well what i tried to poorly get across in words.

Gotta go with Lali Puna although 10 seems kinda low to me but ya just hafta go with the sexy pic. Oddly enough I just listened to that album on my way to and from the gym this morning. It's a sign I tell you!

I don't want to get in the middle of the Kaki King discussion but is the new one the one with Kewpie Station? I love that track but didn't think too highly of the album as a whole. As always different strokes and all that.

You're always going on and on about how much you like the new Drive By Truckers album The Dirty South, and you had an awesome time ripping it up at the concert Saturday night, so why don't you list them ...Oh wait, that was me, and it will be much higher than # 10

The only one of these I've heard is Razorlight, and it rocks.

Ted Leo sounds like Donkey balls to me, so I voted for Lali Puna. Yahweh.

Well then, teabag me with those donkey balls 'cause among the artists listed, T. Leo deserves the Top Ten placement. Right on the forehead.

Razorlight. It's in my top 5.
I second Ted Leo, that will be in my top 20-- but didn't make top 5.

If you don't have Blonde Redhead in your Top 10 already, it's a must for your No. 10....

i'll vouch for him being a totally good guy. the only knocks against him in my book are that he's a notre dame alumnus and a yankees fan, but nobody's perfect. and i'd even be willing to let one of those drop since he wrote "timorous me" and it's one of my favorite songs ever.

Hell, I'm a Braves fan and I applied for a job at ND, so I don't think I can even hold those against him. Sweet. I love it when they're good people and talented all together :)

So are y'all pals, then?
