Because I know there are one or two of you.

If you fall into that bracket you may wish to click on the below link. It will download the 'Postcard Brochure' handwritten in hard-to-read Victorian style writing by never-less-than-quite-odd Postcard founder Alan Horne.

In it amidst pages of lyrics, photocopied pictures and strange little sketches in the margins, he tells the story of Postcard Records and the bands (Orange Juice, The Go-Betweens, Aztec Camera, Josef K) it helped launch on the unsuspecting public.

The Go-Betweens single was also released on their Australian label Missing Link with a picture sleeve.

I wonder how Edwyn is doing? I see he produced a couple tracks on the Sons & Daughters.

Have you checked out ballboy? Probably me fav band to come out of Scotland in a while. Great group of people also.

Pick up "The Glasgow School" by Orange Juice

A reissue of the early singles and the entire first album, which has never been officially released in America until now

I'm liking The Glasgow School quite a bit. Should I bother attempting to obtain (d/l) their two albums?

I'm thinking about ordering the first Aztec Camera, too.

"High Land, Hard Rain" by Aztec Camera is another one worth a listen.

"You Can't Hide Your Love Forever" is excellent. I may also be the only person on the planet who prefers or even likes their "Third Album" (featuring "What Presence", "Out For The Count", "Lean Period", etc.)

However, the albums are a totally different sound from the Postcard catalogue. The singles have a bit more energy and noise, which seems to have been produced away by Polydor.

If you dig the Postcard sound, I can't recommend Josef K enough. That band was splendid.

Edwyn is finally home and still heavily into therapy. Last I read, he was starting to walk again and hopes to recover fully.

Aztec Camera's 'High Land Hard Rain' album is a fantastic debut. And I don't use the word 'fantastic' lightly. It maybe hampered a little by the dated 80's production (especially the drums) but if you can see by that you won't be disappointed. It made my Listmania 100 easily.

Josef K were a bit more manic and abbresive that the other Postcard bands - more along a sort of Gang of Four line. They produced an album canned it and then re-recorded it (the track listing isn't exactly the same with some tracks are not on one but on the other). The two albums were 'The Only Fun In Town' and 'Sorry For Laughing' and I have to say I've forgotten what order they came in! You can buy both on a single CD now.

High Land, Hard Rain is exquisite, but I never hear much talk about Frame's second album Knife, which I like just as much. Title track is one of my favorite songs.

You can get it pretty cheaply as a 2-fer with the live self-titled one from '85.

I love that this kind of stuff can get scanned and posted on the internet for download and saving, if desired.
