Personally, I'd like to hear some kind of Ron Sexsmith/Paul McCartney collaboration. That would be freaking sweet.

What rekkids have you wigged out on lately?
And how the hell did you find us?

Welcome, btw. I recommend buying the (Rad)Cliffe Notes version of the Obner Atlanta Contingent Vernacular if you wanna make a fast impression 'round here. Not necessarily a good one, mind you, but you'll get noticed fast.

I'll go in another direction; Public Enemy. I think they know that in the current socio-political climate they should be able to just kill in wax again, but can't for whatever reason. Trouble is, there's very few people who could get them back on track without making them sound trendy/gimmicky (ie, Pharrel, Timbaland). Rick Rubin is the obvious choice, but I think they'd avoid him because of their acrimony toward Def Jam.

I'd suggest Madlib, Prefuse 73, MF Doom, maybe GZA if he could get his shit together for a few minutes...fuck don't even look at just hip hop producers...Steve Albini, Nigel Godrich...anyone but the idiots they've been using lately.

Maybe Dalek, or even Diplo. I still say that sonically and in terms of knowing what they can do and how they work together that Rick Rubin would have the best shot of bringing them back. 'Course, he brings everyone back (Neil Diamond is next) so there'd be no "wow" element there.

Jay Dee could do it. So could whoever did that first Dead Prez album or the second Coup album.

Hello then,
I've lurked on the boards since the CMJ days (remember those?), but never really felt like posting. I don't think I could keep up. Last five album purchases:

Dimension Mix (Eels, Beck, Oranger)
Nilsson Knnillssonn (trying to complete the collection)
Schifrin Caveman soundtrack (yes!)
The Boy Least Likely To - The Best Party Ever (sunny)
Neil Young's first album (I was looking at my iPod and realized I had like, 16 of his albums on there, but never bothered getting the first one, so there's my reasoning)

I already have the OACV on order, and I can't wait to start practicing the hip new words kids everywhere have begun to slang around. For example, I heard that the new Neil Diamond record is going to be pretty fly, on the Q tip.

Anyway,
Shaun

So, can you think of an artist that deserves a similar treatment - somebody that could use a shot in the arm?

I'm going to go with Michael Monroe. He's still making quality songs this days and has never really gotten the success he deserves either as a solo artist or with Hanoi Rocks. And he plays a mean harmonica AND saxophone.

For those that don't know, it's this guy:Image

in a pefect world . . . Michael Jackson.
he's too far gone to deal with, but the man is still talented and with a good producer (maybe even just Q again) he could make a hell of an album.

but he's too bat shit crazy for that to ever happen.

You're living in yesteryear. When's the last time he even wrote a decent song, "Black Or White"?

i thought my post made it pretty clear that he's no good now, though he can still sing as proven by "butterflies"

I would love to see Stephen Stills get his shit back together, but after that album of his that came out last year, he's probably better off headbutting a circular saw.

I'd like to see a Roy Wood/Cheap Trick collaboration on record.
Produced by Roy.

Rakim

My suggestions:

Ministry -- I'd love to hear them go back to synthpop.

Argent, Mountain, or any other one-hit wonder

Golden Earring (who never sucked, but may have missed the boat once or twice)

The Fixx

Stephen Rea

Kraftwerk
