I just saw that the English Beat (and Naked Eyes) are apparently playing at lincoln park zoo in chicago on friday. what?!? does anyone know who's involved with it? is it just dave wakeling and a cover band? this doesn't have anything to do with that "bands reunited" on vh1, does it?

i like english beat a lot. and some dramarama too.

i just have no interest in seeing any band 15-20 years past their prime. this can be nothing but awful.

it might be a little rough [gulp], but it's just the experience of going to see them.

Now where is Big Country.....

didn't the lead singer from Naked Eyes die like a year or two ago?

btw, Dalen, I've seen Flock of Seagulls live before -- time I can never get back. They were awful. It was just the lead singer (Mike Score?) and 2 other dudes... I don't think the other 3 original members are playing with him.

Where's Go West on this tour? And Glass Tiger? ;)

Devo were around for a decade before their commercial so-called prime and then kept going. They don't have an expiration date.

I'd love to see the Beat because they're likely to surround themselves with a group of great musicians (unlike AFOS). But if Rankin isn't there, it's not as good.

AT least Devo & English Beat had a prime. I'd take either in the 60's over most current bands. I just saw DEVO a couple of weeks ago and they were unbelievably fuckin' great.

I've seen Dave Wakeling more times than any member of my family over the last ten years. Its probably just him and a bunch of other guys that were never affiliated with English Beat. If Ranking not's involved, it'll limit the playlist but most of their best songs were primilarly Dave on vocals anyway.

I'd love to see English Beat. I missed the chance in 9th grade,(mom, dad, thanks for that). I still listen to them often.

So has anyone seen this show yet? Some friends have suggested seeing them here in Portland on December 16, and I'm just curious if it's worthwhile. I saw nothing about Naked Eyes opening.

Dramarma has always brought it live. Is Chris Carter touring with them? I didn't think he was still with them.

Is a gig at your house on the tour schedule?
