I might go cover this for WRVU. I'm curious about what kind of a band he has with him to play this stuff. And if he's any good live. I fairly dig on Illinois but haven't heard Michigan or Seven Swans. His grooves get a little, um, repetitive.

i saw him in march, 2004. it was one of the best shows i've ever seen. he was backed by three of the danielson famile; a guy playing trumpet, a girl on percussion, and another singer. he absolutely owned that room. you could've heard a pin drop in there. the only downside was that it was a week after seven swans was released and he only drew from that album, actually denying requests for michigan material. he did, though, play what would become "chicago" as an encore.

he was the middle act, but the room wasn't even half-full for the headliner after his set.

I saw the first show on his current tour, in Solana Beach, CA. He was backed by seven musicians playing everything from tambourine to trombone. It was spectacular, and I highly recommend seeing him if you have the chance.
