If you have a GMail account, download the chat client, log in with your email address and password, and get in touch, let's try this out. If anyone has a Mic, get at me, I want to test out the Voice.

You can connect to the Google Talk server now with any Jabber client.

I have no interest in the Google client, but I hope this raises Jabber awareness.

How the hell do you get the chance to use Gmail. Do I have to get picked? If so, fuck em.

at 12:21 in the evening?

Yea, I think I have a google of google invites! har de har har

Edit: but I think they got on the IM bandwagon too late. That's all I don't need is another instant messenger running. I pretty much only use MSN. AOL if I need to talk to my brothers, and never open up my yahoo. I haven't even installed ICQ on my machine at home and I've had it a year and a half. I just don't think I need this. (I've never gotten the microphone to work in MSN, or Yahoo, or AOL before, so I doubt it will work here.)

Gmail is supposed to be open to everyone (in the US) starting today.

I agree with timmy. I don't chat much, and don't feel like installing another client. I know I could use Gaim or Trillian to combine them but I don't like either of those.

I was sorta in the same boat, but then again, I've added probably 4-5 gmail accounts for myself, and if there's anything I don't need, it's another email account.

I used it a bit today. It just seems superfluous with all the other IM clients out there. My favorite feature of AIM is the file transfer ability. Until and unless GoogleTalk can incorporate some more useful features, I don't see myself using this regularly.

Although I do like that it's linked to my Gmail account. But that's about the only upside at this point.

The "talk" option is basically worthless. Who wants to be occupied vocally when you can have multiple conversations by typing?
