I'm there.

Then I'll be at The Shamrock, as they are a few doors apart from each other.

Seriously guys, this'll be like the 4th or 5th time i've seen them this year, and they're great.

Halsted a little south of Diversey, on the east side of the street.

It's a big Grateful Dead/Phishhead hang out, as is Griffin's, kitty corner to A Live One.

One of the guys who's involved with Endochine somehow, is also involved with A Live One somehow.

It'll be cool to see them in a small joint.

It's actually called "Alive One," further enshittifying the name. Although the bar itself is much better than its name. It's also not nearly big enough for live music. Where the hell are they supposed to set up?

I was wondering the same. It's like 2 blocks from my old apartment. I might make an appearance after I finish paying back my debt to society or 9:30-10ish.

I don't mean to start a fight, but I can't really stand this group.

That's o.k., if i really wanted to be a musician but had no talent to speak of, i'd probably hate them too.

I feel like this was pretty unnecessary, especially given his qualifying remark.

There's a back room. It's still not very big but it's got a "stage" area where they have couches and what not. I expect they'll remove the couches and have the band set up in that corner of the back room. However, I've never actually seen a live band there.

agreed, i was just feeling snarky.

I take it back. I still think they're really really farking good though.

and colin, babe is sick. not just mentally, either. Talked to him on the phone briefly last night, and he sounded like he needed some whiskey to sweat out whatever he caught.

hey all -

i'm here. sorry for not contributing of late, but, between some travels (work related) and the recent illness, i've been a bit lax in participating.

phil - as always, thanks for showing some love for the boys. i too think their live show might be the strongest thing they have going.

and no sweat with andrew's feelings, if someone doesn't dig the band, we don't sweat it (btw - andrew, just so you are aware, i manage endochine).

i will say, and without taking anything away from andrew's opinion of endochine (which i'm certain was shared honestly and without intention to offend), that the austin music world is sort of a funny place because it seems like bands from here aren't often allowed to even try to get "bigger than austin" without suffering some backlash from other austin musicians or austin music scenesters. for one thing, if a band gets on the radio here, their "indie-friendly" status is gone, irrespective of how much DIY they still do. . .anyway, that was a $0.02 blurb.

thanks again phil (and whomever else made it out) - i hope you enjoyed a show and i'm glad we could have a free one in chicago for you guys(!) - even if it was in a bar more often frequented by those dirty, dirty hippies!!!

trev

I had 6 friends make it out to the show, none of them obnish, maybe next time. All were impressed. The cure cover was unexpected, but that's why it was good.

When i was in the Cleveland scene (not much of a scene, i know), musicians would slag on other musicians who'd actually gotten off their asses and made something happen too. It's not an uncommon phenomenon. I can only imagine how that's amplified in Austin.

So andrew... who DO you like in austin?

Sorry I backed out dude. I was pretty much exhausted. What are you doing tonight? I still owe you some beers.

Hey Spence, I just back from doing some drinking. It's all good, you have a real job and shit. Something I aspire to.

And timmy, sorry you missed it. They said they hope to be back in Feb. maybe.
