All is as it should be.
That thing is a beheamoth of a record, in a good way.
Something needed to knock Sufjan Stevens out of the top spot. The fact that my favorite record of the year did it is just a bonus.

"Use It" is one of the best songs, if not the best song, I've heard all year.

Still deciding about the rest.

Why would something "need to" knock Stevens' album out of the top spot?

Oh, I don't know - maybe because it's overly precious, overrated, overblown and almost completely unmoving.
Never before have I been as underwhelmed by an acclaimed artist as I have by this guy.
He's a convenient critical darling now, but there's no way his records will hold up years down the road as anything but curiosities.

I don't get his appeal either.

Neither do I. He's written the same boring song 100 times now and it's not getting any better.

FWIW, 3 new reviews knocked it down to an overall score of 90, 1 point behind "Illinois".
Fuck.
