not crappy, but there's been 2 lines from it lodged into my head for days now.

It's slower, mostly, if not all, accoustic, and playing a lot on AOR stations lately.

First line is something like "Well I close my eyes/and watch somethingsomethingsomething.."

and the chorus fors "you're the one I love" and then something else.

It sounds like the most generic song ever, but it's pretty catchy and can't be drilled out of my little brain right now.

any ideas?

I wish I could help but I've always wanted to know what the hell AOR stands for?

Speaking of crappy songs, I actually like a Top 40 country song for the first time in years.

Brad Paisley's "Alchohol" has been stuck in my head for a while now.

I think it's because I first heard it in a bar in Chapel Hill, NC on "country night" and the whole bar was drunkenly singing it.

why do you listen to a lot of AOR stations? you've been sober for 3 days and already you're pulling a jeff goldblum and throwing up on things before you eat them like in that movie.

The fact you don't know is probably a signifier of taste. I think it's Adult Oriented Radio (but it might be Album Oriented Radio).

East End?

It had an upstairs that was nice and then you walked outside to go down some step to go to the dirtier part. Long bar with jukebox, pool tables, etc.

Can't tell you much detail, we had been at Top of the Hill for waaaaaay to long after having dinner at 411.

It's Album Oriented Radio.

The name came about back in the day when entire albums ( or at least several cuts from 1 album ) would get airplay.

It's mutated into a term that signifies bands like REO Speedwagon, Journey, etc.

well, WXPN isn't exactly AOR, but it ain't far off either. and I can't keep my headphones on for every mnute that I'm here in the office. They think I'm weird and antisocial enough as it is. but yeah it pisses me off hearing the damned Beck & Feist songs all day.

Edit: I always thought it was Adult Oriented Radio. I think one of you guys told me that. so shame on you, whoever you are.

The station you mentioned above looks like AAA to me ( Adult Album Alternative ) . Confused yet?

AAA is only about a decade or so old as an established format...playlists kinda harken back to the old AOR stations ( album tracks, etc. ) but obviously it's a much less testosterone-laden vibe.

AOR can also mean Album Oriented Rock.

I always thought it was supposed to have some correlation with MOR, and based on that, I could never figure out what it meant (A____ of the Road?). I finally looked it up on dictionary.com a while back.

Actually, Album Oriented Rock is correct. Me not all the way awake yet. I suppose Album Oriented Radio is OK, as AOR is generally used in describing a radio format.

I know MOR as meaning "Middle Of The Road" - aka soft rock.

BTW - I don't know what the song in question is...not enough to go on, really.

I was channel-surfing last nite and caught the video for this on CMT. I enjoyed that, for all the wilding in the video, it still encouraged responsible drinking. By the end, the bottle of bourbon (?) was still half-full. And you just know they only had one (bottle) with them.

East End Martini Bar, I believe. They have quarter drafts on Friday nights, but I have yet to be there for this. The best $5 I could ever spend, I think. My friend is a regular there.

I thought it was a pretty easy one. I mean I must hear this song at least once a day. I never stick around for the ID though because my headphones go on either during or immediately after it.

The One I Love- David Gray

Gonna close my eyes
Gonna watch you go
Running through this life, darling
Like a field of snow

As the tracer glides
And its graceful arc
Send a little prayer up to you
'Cross the falling dark

Tell the repo man
And the stars above
That you're the one I love

Perfect summer's night
Not a wind or breeze
Just the bullets whispering gentle
Amongst the new green leaves

These things I might have said
Only wish I could
Now I'm leaking life faster than I'm leaking blood

Tell the repo man
And the stars above
That you're the one I love

Don't see elysium
Don't see no fiery hell
Just the lights all bright, baby, in the big hotel

Next wave coming in
Like an ocean rock
Won't you take my hand, darling, on that old dance floor

We can twist and shout
Do the turtle dove
And you're the one I love

well why didn't you tell the rest off us? WHY DID YOU KEEP IT A SECRET

no, I did it before making this inquiry, hoping that maybe just a few songs include BOTH of these lyrics. this is not the case.
