so i'm heading out there, flight is booked. sept. 13-18. i arrive on tues around 3:30 and will be staying in williamsburg.

so. i would love to meet up with those who live out there and/or those who will be heading to cmj... dov, haq, opa, swiateck (i know you said you were going), charli, etc.

it's looking like i'll be at:
thurs night- dfa showcase @ northsix
fri night- !!! @ s.o.b's (i'm really going to try to see riviera before... but it depends on how easy it will be to get from the hook to sob's)

wed & sat are open, we're still deciding where we want to go. unfortunately wolf parade is sold out on sat (GODDAMNIT I AM SO PISSED ABOUT THAT) but i'm going to try somehow to get my way in there.

anyway i'd love to meet some of you, so let me know if you're available!

Yes, definitely. It'll be nice to meet you finally. And Chad too, I didn't know he was coming. Good job guys.

We should exchange numbers just to keep one another informed on what's going on over the weekend. I'll PM you mine.

I'd totally be down for cruising up there to meet some folks, but between moving and the 2 weddings bookending that month for me my poor ass will be at home not drinking.

KEXP is broadcasting from the Museum of Television & Radio Sept 12-16. They have killer in-studio performances every day they're there that are open to the public. You just have to sign up at kexp.org. In the last few years, I've seen Sufjan Stevens, Ted Leo, Stellastarr, Ambulance, and the Stills perform in the studio there. They're still filling out the schedule but here's the in-studio lineup so far:

Mon 9/12
10am Eiffel Tower
12pm Adam Franklin (of Swervedriver)
4pm Hopewell

Tue 9/13
10am Wide Right
12pm Goldspot
4pm Langhorne Slim

Wed 9/14
10am Devin Davis

Thu 9/15
10am Prayers and Tears of Arthur Digby Sellers
12pm Kimone
2pm Cloud Cult

Fri 9/16
10am Youth Group
4pm Rogue Wave

My stay will be short. 9/15-9/18. But I'm totally down with meeting up with as many of you folks as I can.
9/15 I want to see the New Pornographers.
9/16 is open, but I think that's Riviera's night, so I'll prob end up there.
9/17 I'm going to the Get Hip/No Fun Records showcase @ Trash Bar, where my friends The Hard Lessons are headlining and if any of you have a sensible brain cell in your head you'll join me in rocking the f--- out! Seriously. This band owns.

I've also got a line on some afterparty that's being thrown by a friend who's the DJ for Beans from Antipop Consortium, but I think it might be the night before I come into town. If it's not, I'll see about getting some o' youz in if you want.

This will own. I'm w/ Dri, in that it's been far too long since I've had a vacation and I need to get my ya yas out.

My flight hits NY friday morning. I'll be in Brooklyn(what part of I have no clue) at my sister-in-law's.

Of course we'll be at the Hook friday night, then I think we(josh and me) were going to just play it by ear the rest of the weekend(we fly out monday afternoon) due to low funds.

Dri, I really hope you can try and make it to the show, it would be nice to finally meet you. I just don't know if we'll be up to going to any of the other shows the rest of the weekend if we have no cash. So let me know!

I'll send you my cell just before you take off for NY.

Swiatek, really hope you come out to the Riviera show! That would be awesome!! They go on at 10pm. And Quasar Wut Wut(their labelmates) plays after them and they're not to be missed, they're like Zappa meets the Muppets meets god only knows. They're great.

Charli- I'm thinking I might just head to Riviera first, then head over to the !!! show and meet with my friend. I'll have to map it out and see how it goes. I'll also pm ya with my # before I leave... that goes for you too Chad.

I'll probably be at the Vice & Fader afterparties... two of my friends work for those mags so if any of you want to party, I can see about getting you in.

And djdan, thanks for posting that... I might look into that since my days are free and I'll just be roaming around checking out the city.

It's about a 20-minute train ride. Add to it a 10-minute walk from The Hook to the train station.

30 to 40 minutes tops.

i'm thinking more around 40 minutes... if we're talking about the same thing. one club is in southwest brooklyn, the other is in southwest manhattan. could take a while.

You know what, you're right. For some reason, I kept thinking that SOBs was on E. Houston, not W. Houston. That should add a few minutes.

It would take the same amount of minutes if you were with other people.

But seriously, the subway on a Friday night is not as frightening as you may think. They'll be plenty of people traveling that night going from venue to venue. Trust me.

yeah i just don't feel comfortable going around by myself in a city i don't know very well. then again, i'm a tough cookie so if anyone even fucks with me.... but, i figure, i'll meet up with you guys at riviera, then after their set- i have to meet my friend at sob's for supersystem & !!!. supersystem goes on at 1215, so i think this just might work out.

You'll be fine.

A piece of advice...the first thing you do when you're in the city is buy a weekly unlimited Metrocard. This way you'll use it while you're here and then when you leave, give it to your friend to use for the remaining days.

You could always take a cab if you're really uncomfortable taking the train alone.

that's exactly what i'm going to do- i remember from my last trip to ny. i'll take care of that since i'll be taking the subway from the airport to my friend's house.

so. i'm thinking maybe we should all try to meet up before the riviera show like dinner or something since that seems to be where most of you are going. anyone up for that?
