plus the bears defense is like 10X better than San Fran's.
i think that they're actually going to lost a few games on special teams as their pretty good defense manages to have the effect of keeping that abysmal offense on the field too much.

Or their terrible offensive keeps their stellar defense on the field a lot.

The same abysmal offense that upgraded their running back and wideout corp in the offseason and also seemingly their quarterback?

so now you're saying that a rookie orton is better than this grossman cat that you were so high on? yeah that's them.

oh no, are we now gonna be hearing about how awesome orton is the same way we kept hearing about how awesome grossman is the past 3 years?

If the offense is asbysmal as you say, I would say the defense will be on the field much longer, which isn't really a good thing either. Although, I agree that if the offense flounders, we could see a lot of punt return TD's against the bears.

I also remember Orton not being shy about throwing a few picks in college, and rookie QBs in general have a period of adjustment when entering into a starting situation. if a few of those picks turn into touchdowns then there's trouble even if the defense shuts the opposing team down completely.

the upgrade isn't grossman---->orton. it's krenzel/quinn/hutchinson---->orton.

granted, he's only played preseason games vs. 2nd and 3rd stringers, but i would take him over krenzel/quinn/hutchinson.

In 2004 Orton threw for 3031 yards, 31 touchdowns, and only 5 interceptions. I'm pretty sure thats pretty fucking stellar.

I was trying to point out that he is shy about throwing interceptions.

I'll admit it's sad that the fate of the bears is in the hands of a rookie this year. I really want Orton to do well though. I sacrificed a cow to the football gods yesterday.

Or even University of Maryland's own Stan Gelbaugh (whom I couldn't even find in a damn Seahawks jersey):

oh and one. someone go ahead and handicap matt's excuses for why they lost to a team where the backup quarterback was unable to create a touchdown. also how they got three false starts in row. i hope that chicago plays baltimore this year or they might not win a game.

those three false starts were amazing. i liked what I saw of orton. the o-line gave him great protection, and he looked good in the pocket for the most part, especially for his first pro game. the flags killed the bears today. and the lance briggs clothesline on ramsey was fantastic.
