A guy from one of the choppers just called in and said the violence is unblevialbe. Looters are going nots, and people have been murdered. Don't know if it made national news but a man killed himself in the superdome also.

Now I'm really worried. My aforementioned friend is in Children's Hospital. Well now the fucking looters are trying to break in, and they can't get the police are the national guard there because of the water.

Cut his vacation two days short?! Jesus, I hope it's not too much of a problem for him. I mean he IS only the President of the country, you know.

More and more reports are coming in about the complete devastation and it is unbelievable.

It actually pisses me off that all of weather people the night of the storm were claiming "Oh, it looks like New Orleans is going to barely miss a direct hit" etc. It was like they completely dismissed the rest of LA and MS. I have to admit that after watching them I didn't think it would be on the level that it is.

I heard an interview this morning on the radio from yesterday with a man from Gulfport who had taken his family up to their attic when the flooding started. The floods ripped the house in half and he was trying to hold on to his kids and wife. The wife told him that he couldn't hold her and to take care of the kids. She was swept away and he hasn't seen her since.

Utterly tragic. If you aren't moved after hearing stuff like that, seriously kill yourself you have no reason to breathe oxygen.

I called my dad yesterday and told him that he's in a position with a shitload of money to do something and I really hope he will. He promised me that he and his company will send some form of donation out that way.

I'm working on locating some friends and their families as we speak. If possible, I'm going to give aid to them directly.

At the same time, I would bet that big ass charities can leverage better purchasing power and make the dollars stretch further.
