I went to Best Buy to buy my dad a birthday present, a DVD/VCR combo. When I was there Tuesday also looked at the music section. Death Cab for Cutie was empty, so I asked the guy about it and he said that they were already sold out. So he got on his computer, and while he was looking he had two people come up and asked about new Death Cab for Cutie. Blew me away because this only happens because of either/or/and, Postal Service, major label, Indie 103.1, or Los Angeles area. Granted it’s at every other store and they only got around 25 copies, but still.

Bee, still has very limited internet access while I switch ISP's.

edit: i’m an idiot!

It'll move about 80-thousand then go on to sell about 1.1 mil.

I haven't heard the album yet. I like the song they have a video for. Nothing different from previous Death Cab. I'm curious to hear the album, so maybe I'll contribute to the sales. I'm happy to hear people are still buying albums.

I like how you feel you need to defend your Best Buy visit.

It's convenient, but it always smells like ass.

My 100K prediction was for the 1st week ONLY. This album could end up doing numbers like the last Modest Mouse did.

Billboard'll probably have the numbers later today.

According to Hits, DcFc last CD released in 2003 only sold about 13k in its first week......

i find it doubtful that it will come even close to 100k in its first week here...however, they did build a big fanbase over the last few years......

And they do have a semi-hit song out right now.

My prediction is between 80-85K the first week.

Extrapolate the number of queers in the population of the U.S., and you'll have your answer.

What's 4% of 300 million?

Hits is now predicting 70-80k first week... not shabby if it happens...they gotta be happy with that.

I downloaded 4 tracks off it yesterday and liked about half of them. I still won't buy the album though.
