There are some great songs on it. As a whole it grabs your attention a little less than Transatlanticism, but seems like a solid follow up. Different Names for the Same Thing and I Will Follow You into the Dark are my initial favorites.

I should have stated that that figure was total sales, not just the first week.

It will definitely debut in the top 20, possibly the top 10. I'm thinking between #8 and #12.

Not really. But Plans is the #2 most downloaded album on iTunes. That's not always a direct reflection of how it will do on the Billboard top 200. Transatlanticism debuted at #97 on the BIllboard top 200 when it came out. But, the band has gotten more popular since then, they have major label marketing behind them, and have graced the cover of almost every rock magazine over the past 2 months except for Rolling Stone and Blender.

But will it be as good as ´We Have the Facts...?´Hell no. That album is a damn masterpiece and they´ll never surpass it.

I was close....

I've been through this one a couple of times and have to say it may actually be more boring than Transatlantacism which I didn't think they could muster. I like it ok overall but there aren't any stand-out tracks yet or anything. It's very mellow and even throughout.

Of course, it probably doesn't help that I've only listened to it while playing Tiger Woods Golf on X-box which keeps freezing up and pissing me off. Maybe I'm just associating the new Death Cab with that emotion and under other circumstances it's a great album that I will love and will make me very a happy.

Here's the Billboard blurb :

One time indie kingpin Death Cab For Cutie reaches the highest chart spot of its career with its major-label debut, "Plans." Featuring the modern rock airplay single "Soul Meets Body," the Atlantic album debuts at No. 4 on sales of 90,000 copies. It's a huge leap from the band's 2003 Barsuk set "Transatlanticism," which started with just 13,000 at No. 97 before falling off the chart two weeks later.

This album has grown on me a great deal. Give it time.

BTW : I always wait for the Soundscan/Billboard #'s...almost always more reliable than HITS.

Eh, I was close. Like I said, I figured a #8-#12 chart debut. I'm not surprised it charted higher than that really.
