Sure, he has a point that there's a lot of political congratulating going around, but he's not exactly a good samaritan shoving microphones in these peoples' faces.

Blitzer's comment is abhorrent because it preserves the notion that a person's ethnicity (i.e. "race") is relevant. The relevance of race is the foundation of racism.

His comment shows that what was most remarkable to Blitzer was the color of the subjects' skin. He chose to use race to distinguish these people.

You know, I thought the same thing looking at footage of the convention center -- why are there so many more black people. Doesn't make me a racist; it's hard to be a racist in a city like Memphis where white people are a minority. I don't give a shit what Blitzer said, but I also noticed it and it troubled me that I saw so many more black people than white in situations like at the convention center. Not saying it's good or bad; just an observation. Also, let's refrain from calling each other racists, shall we? That's just fucking asinine.

Wolf Blitzer can suck it. And so can Cooper and Ted Turner and Aaron whatsisname. Since when should I be affected by anything CNN has to say? Never before has "journalism" profited so much by purposely exploiting tragedy and suffering. It's disgusting. I can't even look at it. The events themselves are horrific enough without CNN's big-feelin', superslick, we-are-the-authority, glitzy, snakelike coverage.
