yeah, i decided to take another brief detour to linuxland. one of the big hangups the first time i tried it was not being able to get java to work. same problems this time. plus, i wanted to play some recently bought games, so until i buy an x86 based computer (ie: not a mac, or one of the newer macs coming soon) i wont be trying linux again. not that i dont like it, its just that linux really caters to x86 users.

Well, it's not their fault Sun won't release a Linux/PPC version of Java.

yeah, but its not just that. (you can get an ibm version of java 1.4.2, which supposedly works fine, but as i said i wasnt able to get it working). plus ati doesnt have drivers for their video cards under ppc linux. theres quite a few programs and drivers that are x86 only. itd been nice if more hardware makers would open source their drivers, or just support linux. hell, itd be nice if more hardware makers would support osx.
