Just heard it on the radio…To replace Rehnquist.

Not really surprised.

So I'll go on record as saying that: As a potential Associate Justice, I found Roberts to be, at best, marginal.

But CHIEF FUCKING JUSTICE OF THE SUPREME COURT? nahh, bitches.

For one thing, I disaprove of anybody going straight to Chief without serving on the court.

For another, I fucking hate that whole generation of Reagan neophytes who thought that it was "cool" to be conservative in 1984. Alex P. Keaton gets burned in a 55 gallon drum with the homeless in my world.

Chief Justice Thomas? At least he knows that putting one of your pubic hairs on a soda can will get you laid EVERY time

But William Howard Taft went directly to Chief Justice without serving on the court.

What, were you laying around watching the Presidential marathon on History channel yesterday? Learn something?

Of course it has happened before, but Roberts is no.......well, he's no William Howard Taft. I mean Taft had at least been President of the United States.

Seriously Cory, why should this guy be Chief Justice? I honestly dont have much problem with him as Associate Justice despite his past as an open Jesus -freak, but he just doesnt seem cut from Chief Justice timber.

Fuck. Now I'm gonna spend half my Labor Day researching stupid-ass judges.

I really don't care. Chief Justice of the United States is a ceremonial post anyway. Plus, with a few seconds of research, I found that only 3 of the previous 16 Chief Justices actually served as Associate Justices before being nominated as Chief Justice.

Oh, and I dropped Taft because you just don't get that opportunity very often. He ain't so bad. Fat, played golf, and he's the other president buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

My problem with this isn't about Robert's positions on things. It's about how long he's been a judge. Wasn't he only appointed in 2003?

I realize he used to be Rehnquist's clerk (a way more important position than it sounds) and thus knows a lot about which cases get heard, and I know he was assistant AG, but isn't making him Chief like promoting someone from Single-A to the majors overnight just because they got some work in at spring training?

You don't have the batboy DH just because he knows the stadium.

Why are you a Libertarian/libertarian, when you should be a Know-Nothing?

Catholic-baiter! Catholic-hater!

Go to hell, where you won't have to smell all that popery at least. You'll like that, won't you?

Bitch.

Shut it, infidel. Otherwise you're blaspheming.

And for that, I declare an interdict on you and your Protestant family. Zwinglis, the lot of you.

It wouldn't matter if it were Scalia. He's already an Associate Justice.

Chief Justice is primarily a ceremonial title.

Montague's sense of humor. Something about Scalia being Catholic and you tending toward Rand-ism. Not that it makes sense even then. Catholics don't like Scalia, either.

I offered my original comment in response to everyone going ballistic over Roberts' nomination. If there is outrage that Bush isn't nominating someone from the bench, consider whom on the bench would get the nod.

I would think most objective people would fall in Scalia's camp--I don't think religion has anything to do with it. It has everything to do with his strict adherence to the Constitution.

Roberts reminds me of the Manchurian Candidate.
