so we listen to WXRT all day, everyday, pretty much and I am sick of them playing the sames songs over and over again.
Well recently they have switched things around a bit and have begun playing acoustic versions of all the same songs, or live versions and worst of all they have been playing covers of bad songs by worse artists. I just can't take it.

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Oh, look, it's another NEW U2 song playing.
They act like it's the only disc out this year.

We need an icon for a head exploding with anger!

WXRT is okay in small doses and by small doses I mean like 15 minutes a week. On a side note, John in the Morning (from KEXP) just griped me out for making fun of 'The Music' in an email. He said I insulted his choice of music. Give me a break.

What did you say to him? Did he mention it on air?

He didn't mention it on the air. I said "For Christ's sake stop playing 'The Music'. They're a bunch of hacks. You can make up for it by playing some Stone Roses. Thanks."

I know I was kind of a dick, but I said please and thank you. I actually thought the whole thing was pretty funny.

What I can't stand is when stations play horrible performances and/or recordings on the air. One of the stations I monitor plays this "live in the studio" version of Switchfoot's "Dare You To Move" ( I know the song sucks to begin with - shaddup - that's not the point here ) that sounds like it was recorded in a submarine using equipment from 1856.

And why do stations always have people/bands perform on the morning shows, where those people are gonna sound like shit because they're on 3 hours sleep after performing in a smoky bar the nite before?

Dude,

you've got to realize how many e-mail's and requests he gets about this kind of stuff. He gets 5 e-mails bashing a certain band and then 5 more praising the band. I haven't noticed him playing too much "The Music" lately and i listen every morning. I get sick of him playing certain songs but i've yet to find anything close to being as good as his show.

I'm sure it'll come out in the playlist.

oh boy, i think they are going to play some live Ryan Adams and Sheryl Crow coming up.

They played a Nirvana song from the box set which was just a bunch of Kurt screaming.

I really hope they play Sheryl Crow's - Sweet Chil 'O Mine. That song is awesome. :puke:

D00d, I don't need to be lectured on it. I know he receives hundreds of shitty emails each morning. I thought it was funny and shared. I shouldn't have said he griped me out...it was more like he got shitty with me. His email was basically a short, sweet 'fuck off dick.'

I like Amanda Wilde better, she's a bit more eclectic. John basically sticks to what's new and hot with a couple of oldies mixed in for good taste.

now it's a Srpingsteen cover of a Zevon song.

It actually sounds really good, but I've heard it twice a day for 2 weeks.

I stopped listening to music on the radio in 1992. XRT used to be tolerable, but the playlist just keeps getting smaller and smaller (and this is a station that once had the slogan "everything in no particular order"). Most of the college stations, like WLUW, are quite heinous. I hear 6th-rate dance-punk every single time I turn that station on. WNUR is decent every once in a while.

We listened to the christmas music station this morning and it was oddly refreshing, but now we are back to WXRT. I liked them so much better before they sold out to Clear Channel.

np: acoustic Dave Matthews

The radio station at work is all Christmas, all the time right now. I thought it would be a refreshing change from the Celine Dion, Clay Aiken, Josh Groban, etc we usually have to hear but instead, it's Celine Dion, Clay Aiken and Josh Groban doing their versions of Christmas songs. It's truly awful.
