I was under the (hopeful) impression that this was a huuuuge bomb.

Let us know if Rachel Weisz does any nude scenes and how extensive they are.

Just give up and go rent something already...

You'll spend less money, and you'll be much more entertained.

I already do that with my Netflix account but I like to go to the theater as well.

Anyway, I watched The Constant Gardener last night. Very well done by the director of City of God. It's an amazing experience. I highly recommend it.

I think he was recommending I just skip trying to see some celebrity titty and just go rent some porn.

And although I've made the same recommendation in the past, there's just something different about it...

I was kinda disappointed by The Constant Gardener. It was worth seeing, but it really left me feeling kind of empty. It didn't go nearly as "in depth" into the subject matter (or even the characters or their relationships) as some of the reviews would have you believe. It was just really draining and depressing.

The only resemblance to City of God was the camera work.

So OPA, I saw that you liked Junebug. Do tell more. I am interested in seeing it because it takes place in NC.

I enjoyed it, but I also don't think it was very well done. With such an intimate subject matter, I felt a bit detached at times.
Perhaps because the film seemed to have lost it's focus three quarters of the way, or because the characters weren't developed enough - they barely ever speak to begin with.
Lots of silence in the film, which isn't always a bad thing, but in this case, the characters were a bit bland, especially Alessandro Nivola's character, and much was left for misinterpretation.

What I liked about the movie was it's sincerity.
The characters were real people facing real issues and there were some very good scenes between some of the characters, but again, those scenes would've been so much better if the characters' relationships were a bit more developed.

The scenery was nice. I don't know if people in NC are like that but in the movie, they have a naivete about them.
They're small town folk who go to church, don't stay up late, and don't quite get big city humor.
In that, the movie succeeds because it does show the differences between small town and big city folk.

Sweet. I'm definitely seeing it in the theater as soon as it gets here. I hear that Amy Adams is adorable in the movie and I already thought she was hot. I'm eager to see how Ryan from the OC is in the movie, since I think he has such limited acting range. Thanks for the review.

Amy Adams, IMO, takes over the movie because she's the only one with any depth in her character. You'll love her.
Ryan was OK. It's nice to see him in these types of movies, as opposed to the horror films or teeny bopper films that other TV teens seem to do so much of. All in all, he did fine.

Oh, and yeah, Tommy, the music was done by Yo La Tengo. Very nice, although I don't remember much music being played, other than the opening and closing credits.
